Binge eating refers to eating large quantities in a very short span of time. It is irrespective of hunger and one only stops when one gets uncomfortable while eating. Everyone goes through binge eating once in a while but it gets transformed into disorders.

Binge eating not only involves excess eating, it begins with the consumption of large food and ends up at the point where one gets out of control and feels some sort of guilt over their behavior. Binge eating has very negative impacts on our physical well-being and sometimes it gets quite important to get rid of this habit by seeking out the help of NLP therapy.

What are the symptoms of Binge Eating?

There are two major symptoms referring to the behavior of binge eating:

• Consuming a large amount of food than normal very quickly.
• Feeling the urge to eat is getting out of control.

Extreme Dieting

When we try to follow a diet rigorously, it might result in binge eating. Most of the time people have cheat days in their diet but in very rare cases, they fall into the binge eating disorder as they fail to control their urges to eat.

Negative body image

When people have a negative image of their body, they tend to fall under guilt or shame and start stress eating which gets transformed into binge eating order.

Family history

How to overcome binge eating disorder

Try not to skip meals

One of the most effective ways to get rid of binge eating is by setting a fixed schedule and sticking to it. you must have your meals at fixed intervals of the day and eat enough to satiate your hunger. when you skip meals, it does not contribute to your diet. But it increases your cravings and leads to overeating.

Mindfulness practice

Mindfulness is the practice that allows our mind to be alert to any bodily movements and feelings. When we are mindfully eating and noticing how much we have eaten, we can easily stop at the point when our body tells us to.

It can effectively prevent overeating by catching the signal of the body when it gets full and is no more hungry.

Drink more water

Curbing your cravings becomes easier when you have the habit of drinking as much water as you can. When we increase the water intake in our body, it automatically decreases our hunger and the calorie intake also decreases resultantly.

Avoid diets

There are various diet plans that we often follow to lose weight or to maintain a healthy body. But at least we know that these diets include very restrictive eating which can easily trigger binge eating.

Following diets can be unhealthy but instead, we should wisely cut out the calorie intake as per the requirement of our body. Sometimes our body needs more protein than fibre or vice versa. So, we must look upon the requirements of our body than fall into the trap of any rigorous diet.

Consume fibre

Fibre makes you feel less hungry for a long time as it takes time to digest. Fibre also helps you control your cravings and reduce your appetite. Therefore, you end up eating less.

So, you must increase your fibre-rich food intake to keep your diet in control and maintain a healthy lifestyle. For instance, eat more fruits, whole grains, and vegetables.

Get rid of junk food

If you have junk food in the kitchen, it becomes easy to get triggered and start eating those packed food items. The best way to curb your hunger is by not keeping unhealthy food items in your kitchen.

The best way is to keep healthy food items near you so that you can grab healthy food when you want to have any snack. Therefore, replace fruits and vegetables with chips, candies, or chocolates.

Don’t skip breakfast

Starting your day by having a healthy breakfast is the best way to maintain a healthy diet. Also, people who eat healthy breakfasts regularly, are less likely to fall for binge eating. Have a protein-rich breakfast and it will reduce cravings by keeping you full for a long time.
