Why Removing Asbestos From Roofs Is Important?

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that has been used in construction materials for hundreds of years. Asbestos was commonly used in roofing shingles and other building materials because it was cheap, durable and resistant to fire. Yet deadly, so asbestos roof removal in Sydney has become important now!
Asbestos-containing materials (ACM) were used in the construction of many homes built before 1980 when they were banned by the EPA. Asbestos can become friable when damaged or disturbed, releasing harmful fibres into the air that can cause serious health problems if not properly handled. Friable asbestos is defined as asbestos-containing material that crumbles easily when dry.
Asbestos was used in many building materials as it has a number of desirable properties:
It is strong. The strength of the material was the prime factor in selecting it for any building. Creation of buildings was a lot easier and once over, no one had to wonder over ...
... the durability for at least a decade.
It doesn’t conduct heat or electricity very well. It was a safe material as well because of its resistance to elements. In case of a fire outbreak, the material acted as a barrier to the expansion of the fire.
It is resistant to corrosion by many chemicals and it doesn’t burn easily.
Asbestos roof removal in Sydney is important because it's a dangerous material that can harm you and your family if it's left in place. Asbestos is a mineral fibre that was once used in building materials such as roof shingles, siding, vinyl flooring and insulation for homes.
Asbestos can also be found in some older fireproofing products and automobile brakes. Exposure to asbestos fibres can cause serious health problems, including cancer of the lungs or other organs, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
If you suspect that your attic or garage contains asbestos-containing materials, contact a licensed asbestos contractor immediately. The danger from these materials increases over time as the fibres break off and become airborne.
Asbestos was widely used until health concerns were raised regarding its safety. Asbestos fibres are known to cause diseases such as mesothelioma (a type of cancer) and lung cancer if they are breathed in or swallowed (ingested) by humans or animals.
Removing asbestos from roofs is important because:
It prevents exposure to airborne asbestos fibres.
It reduces the risk of cancer caused by asbestos exposure
It reduces the risk of mesothelioma, a type of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.
