Venus flytraps are the most popular meat-eating plants, capable of trapping and absorbing flies and insects. They're fascinating perennial plants that draw insects to their jaw-like leaves with fresh nectar.

An electric current is delivered through the plant whenever something brushes the inner hairs of its "trap," indicating that something is there, and the trap jerks shut, confining the fly. The perimeter of the shut trap is lined with overlapping blades, and the more the insect moves, the firmer it shuts, making an exit difficult for the trapped fly.

Hence, trapping insects is more like a supplement for a Venus flytrap. It traps anything from insects to arachnids. Some of its victims are beetles, ants, spiders, flying insects, and grasshoppers.

This indicates that if you own a Venus flytrap, you need to have such insects available for it. You can find some live food or buy dried fly larvae. The special thing about this meal is that it requires no special care and doesn't need to be refrigerated.
