As part of the U.S. government's Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS) Country Plan for
Uganda food security organizations, the USG interagency engaged in food security and nutrition and collaborated extensively with government and private sector stakeholders. Over time, it is planned to be updated in collaboration with the parties involved in order to keep it current.
USG investments in Uganda's 38 districts are guided by a GFSS Country Plan that sets out three goals for integrating food security and nutrition programming:
• Sustainable and Inclusive Agribusiness-led Growth is the first goal.
• Enhanced Resilience for People and Organizations
• The third goal is to have a well-fed population, with a focus on women and children.
Food security, hunger, and poverty are all issues that the strategy aims to address. At the individual, home, community, and system levels, there is a complex collection of underlying circumstances that influence these fundamental determinants.
Prior to implementation, it is necessary to further improve the targeting, outcomes framework, and programme components ...
... during the design and procurement phases.
To combat food insecurity, hunger, and poverty, all levels of intervention will have to work together. Particularly the most vulnerable and underprivileged groups lack the assets, skills and competencies to take part in market activities in any meaningful manner. Developing the ability of these groups to engage in value chains over time is essential for them to become a sustainable source of income.
Select value chains will be explicitly prioritised for inclusive growth as GFSS programming is refined through the design, procurement, and implementation processes. GFSS interventions will include support for the most vulnerable and poor populations in order to help them graduate into selected value chains.
First-phase Feed the Future data and analysis; market analysis of the targeted agro-ecological zones and socioeconomic variables affecting poverty, nutrition, and resilience; and stakeholder discussions are used to guide the Uganda national plan. The market systems concept is used in the GFSS plan for Uganda to enhance the operation of the agricultural markets.
There are a wide variety of market participants that are the intended recipients of this programme. The Feed the Future method recognises that disadvantaged populations, such as women, youth, the ultra-poor, landless, and others, face various and many obstacles to participating in the agricultural market
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) understands that many of the world's poorest people lack the resources and capability to engage fully in market systems and will need to be helped over time in developing the ability to participate in value chains. Customized interventions are used by Feed the Future to reach disadvantaged actors where they are on the continuum of development.
We emphasize programmes that can have a transformational impact on a broader number of people, and we use additional partners to do so. Local actors are at the heart of Uganda's Country Plan, which lays most of the responsibility for fulfilling the GOU's numerous development goals on those players themselves.
Consequently, Food Insecurity Organizations in Uganda Plan supports the country's road toward self-reliance, but it also elevates it as the sole way to accomplishing our shared objectives.
