How To Care For Your Soft Chiffon Dress

If silk is considered a king, chiffon is the beautiful queen of fabric realm. If we think about chiffon, it seems to us that it is soft, sensitive, vibrant with colors, and light almost as air. Chiffon is made of mixed silk yearn or synthetic fiber and silk fiber mixture, and it is a wrinkle-free easy wash fabric, great for making eastern and western type outfits and most often chiffon is blended with stretch fabric for better maneuverity of the dress.
Wide use of chiffon is seen mainly in making party wear and bridal dresses. Although not as expensive as silk fabric, chiffon fabric is also considered as good option for bridal fabric especially for the slim trim brides for maintaining their zero figures even in frilly bridal outfits.
Different types of chiffon fabrics are available in market; some of the popular varieties of chiffon fabrics are silk chiffon, poly-chiffon, rayon crepe type chiffon, etc. The main difference between these varieties is their looks and some of these varieties are easy to wash and dry when some other variants demand special care.
The care of chiffon is based in two factors; one ...
... is its washing care and second is its preservation. Silk Chiffon is one of the most delicate types of all its variants because it has a general tendency to tear while wearing. Therefore the dresses made of silk chiffon should be kept with great care, never in hanging condition in wardrobe and to be washed in light detergent by hand and to be rinsed in cold water.
Maximum damage on the texture of chiffon is done in wet condition. In case the chiffon is stretched or is shrunk due to any external pressure, it gets permanently de-shaped and cannot come back in its original shape. Therefore it is necessary to void any external stress on delicate chiffon if you like to keep the dress a new even after several times uses.
However, if a chiffon fabric is purchased for a reputed retail shop or from reputed fabric wholesaler point, it is obvious that the fabric will have its washing instructions. In general, silk chiffon and light-weight crepe are suggested for dry cleaning mostly and occasional hand washing by light and bleach-free liquid detergent for optimum care for their soft texture. Powder detergent is strictly no for chiffon fabric because the powder grains may damage the color smoothness of this delicate fabric texture.
Poly Chiffons are more durable in nature and it requires hand wash mostly. Machine wash can do for poly chiffon fabric; however, spinning or dry wash is not favorable for this fabric type to be safer side of its care and protection.
In case the dress material gets torn, it may require expert stitch maker to mend the wound and it is done with lighter shade of thread, so that the mending can be hidden inside the drape. The problem of staining pilling should be treated by professional dry cleaners so that the texture and color of the fabric remains in condition. It is always advisable to wash the dress made of chiffon fabric after each use so that dirt and stain cannot set on the fabric.
