When we plan to get our dream home built, we think of different things – like how much do we need to spend, which architect to hire, which materials to use in the construction work and so on. But what about the challenges and delays that may take place and prevent your dream home from getting built on time? There are so many factors at play that it is important to plan out everything in advance. You need to consider all the pros and cons along with different plans of action. What will you do if event A takes place? How will you deal with the situation if event B occurs? And at the same time don’t forget about the unseen events. This is the reason we have decided to share a checklist with you that will help you to narrow down things right from the start so that you are on track from day one.

You need to have a clear idea about what kind of property you want. This will help you to think about whether it is a feasible thing to do or should you go for another design?

You need to have a detailed discussion with the architect where you explain to him as to what you want. Ask the ...
... architect to share his detailed feedback. Listen to what he has got to say. Pay attention to his advice if you do not want to repent later.

Think of the amount of money you are comfortable spending. Always remember that your budget is going to increase. If you have the capability to spend say hundred thousand dollars, you should limit yourself to half of it so that when the budget increases, you have the amount for it. You cannot expect to go bankrupt just because you are getting your dream home built.

What about the development application submission? Who is going to look after development application submission? Whether you are submitting the form or it is the architect doing this on your behalf, make sure that it is done on time. You cannot delay the development application submission. You have to do it within the specified time frame.

And finally, you need to be constantly on your toes till the time the construction work gets over. If there is any lag from your part you can be 100% sure that the construction workers will delay the completion of the project.
