Infrared heater
Infrared heaters are heating panels that emit infrared radiation. This long-wave infrared radiation gives the same heat as the sun, so it feels great on your skin. The infrared panels heat you as a person, but not the air in the room.

Infrared heating is therefore ideal for use in places where you are often. So at the sitting area, in your office, above the dining table, or wonderfully in the bathroom. And the beautiful? They are smart heaters, so you can also control them with your smartphone! This is how you make your own Smart Home!

Infrared ...
... heat, what is it anyway?
There are quite a few myths about infrared heating. For example, the radiation would be unhealthy, you can sit in it for a maximum of half an hour, or you would have to be very rich to afford such heating. All nonsense of course! With an infrared heater, the heat is generated by electricity. Yet it is different from the electric heating that you may know as a stove. With an infrared heater, the electricity is converted into infrared radiation. This provides a more direct and economical way of heating, making infrared panels a good alternative to heating on gas. Infrared heating is safe and tasty. You put the plug in the socket and you can already enjoy wonderful warmth.

Main heating or additional heating?
There are two ways you can use infrared heating in your home. You can completely replace all heating systems with the infrared panels, making them the main heating system for your home. But you can also use the panels as additional heating. This is when you use an infrared panel in addition to regular heating that is already present in your home. The infrared heating not only heats objects in the immediate vicinity, but also people in the room. This allows you to set the room temperature, controlled by the central heating, up to three degrees Celsius colder. Due to the direct radiation of the heat panels, your heat experience is still comfortable.

In this way you save on gas consumption and because the infrared heating only has to be on when you are nearby, the power consumption can be very economical. Because you only hang the heating panels in places where you are often, such as the sitting area or the kitchen, you can view this way of heating as zone heating. So you don't heat your entire house by means of infrared, but only certain zones.

To use infrared panels as main heating, there is just a little more to it. For example, a good calculation of how much power and how many infrared panels are needed, in which places it is best to place a panel and how the house is insulated. In a poorly insulated house, a lot of radiant heat will still be lost through the windows, walls and floors. As a result, it takes more energy to keep the temperature comfortable. When there is good insulation and, for example, you generate a lot of electricity yourself by means of solar panels, you can use infrared heating as main heating. You can then completely and sustainably replace gas heating with infrared panels.

When choosing infrared heating for your home, you should therefore first consider what your purpose is for heating with infrared panels. Do you want to use it as zone heating, in addition to the heating you already have at home? Or do you want to completely replace your 'old' heating with infrared panels? In the latter case, it is important that you make a good calculation of how many panels you need. Curious about how many infrared panels are needed to heat your house completely with infrared? per room
If you look at the heating issue per room, infrared heating is especially valuable in areas of the house where you are not often or for a short time. You spend an average of half an hour in the bathroom twice a day, but during that time it must be a comfortable temperature. So you probably turn on the heating, but because the air has to heat up first, it takes longer to heat the room than you are there. Very sinful! Infrared heating is really a godsend in the bathroom. Because the panels give off direct heat, they only have to be on when you are there. This is very easy to arrange by means of a timer or an app on your phone. This saves you costs and energy. Other spaces where you often heat the entire space – actually pointlessly – are the office, study, hobby room or garage. Although you spend more time in these rooms than in the bathroom, you often only sit or stand in one place. By using infrared heating, you only heat where you are and you don't have to heat up the entire room. This also saves costs and energy, without having to compromise on comfort.

Wall or ceiling
Infrared heaters are usually mounted on the wall or ceiling. Unlike traditional heating systems, the placement of infrared panels on the wall is somewhat higher. This is because the location of 'normal' heaters is often blocked by benches or tables. This does not matter with convection heating: the warm air rises and moves through the room. But infrared heating only heats the objects within range of the panel. So if there is a bench in front of the panel, only the bench is heated, nothing else. It is therefore important to fix the panels as freestanding as possible.
