Using MS Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes service may result in midway stoppage of services after event IDs 8226 and 8227 are logged in the MS Exchange Server. Additionally, events that are similar to the following are logged in the Exchange Server that is running the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes service:

Event ID: 8226 Source: MSExchangeNOTES Type: Error Category: Notes Interface Description: Process LME-NOTES-MEXNTS terminated unexpectedly.

Or, something like,

Event ID: 8227 Source: MSExchangeNOTES Type: Error Category: Notes Interface Description: Shutting down LME-NOTES service (unable to handle LME-NOTES-MEXOUT termination)

Reason behind this issue

Corrupted messages in Exchange.box mailbox are the main source of such error messages.

Solution

In order to resolve this issue, you must follow the given below steps:

1.Verify that the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes is correctly configured. If any parameters are incorrectly entered, update these parameters, as required. To do this, follow these steps:

Start Exchange System Manager.

Expand Administrative ...
... Groups, expand Your_Administrative_Group, and then expand Connectors.

Right-click Connector for Lotus Notes (Exchange_Server_Name), and then click Properties.

On the General tab, verify that the Domino server name is correctly entered in the following form in the Notes Server box: ServerName/DomainName

Exit Exchange System Manager.

2.Verify that the Lotus Notes client is correctly configured. If any parameters are incorrectly entered, update these parameters, as required. To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Lotus Applications, and then click Lotus Notes.

Type the password for the Notes administrator account, and then click OK.

In the left pane, click the Databases icon.

Double-click Workspace to open the databases in Lotus Notes.

Double-click DomainName's Address Book on ServerName. The Names.nsf database opens in Lotus Notes.

In the left pane, click Server, click Domains, and then click the Basics tab if it is not already selected.

Leave the Foreign Domain option selected in the Domain type list.

Verify that the Foreign domain name box, contains the following text: exchange

Click the Mail Information tab.

In the Gateway server name box, verify that the name of the Lotus Domino server to which Connector for Lotus Notes will connect is correctly entered.

In the Gateway mail file name box, verify that the following text is entered: exchange.box

Click Close.

3.Verify the configurations as described above and find out whether the problem still persists. If the problem persists, you must create a new Exchange mailbox.

You can convert Lotus Notes to PST or Outlook easily using Notes to PST email conversion software. Notes to PST software successfully exports Lotus Notes emails with email data and its properties, Unicode characters, address book, calendar entries, to do list, appointments, tasks, alarms, schedules, rules, journals, drafts items to PST or Exchange Server.
