Standards are set to follow the guidelines and make sure everything works accordingly. In wireless technology, wireless standard is a set of service protocol where in it indicates how Wi-Fi network works. This standard helps avoid interference from different channels that is within its radiofrequency. It supports various sector in the industries communication requirement. It also helps aid mobility of devices to ensure its effectivity.

Wireless Standards History

IEEE 802.11 - this is the first wireless standard created in 1997 that supports devices with a speed of 2 Mbps.

IEEE 802.11a - this follows the 802.11 wireless standard that is launched in 1999 which works on 5GHz band and with maximum data at 54Mbps

IEEE 802.11b - this standard is in the same year with IEEE 802.11a. It has a maximum speed of up to 11Mbps.

IEEE 802.11g - this was created in 2003 that obtains the rate of 54Mbps in a 2.4GHz band. It works the same with 802.11a however, in much lower frequency range.

IEEE 802.11n - this was in 2009 where in this standard now both work for 2.4 GHz and 5GHz band. It can ...
... support multi-channel which is MIMO (multiple input multiple output). Compared to other previous standards this was able to provide a data rate of 150Mbps to 600Mbps.

IEEE 802.11ac - this was launched in 2014 that increases data rate of 1300 Mbps at the same time still has MU-MIMO (multiple-user MIMO) support. It uses multiple antennas to boost speed and minimize errors on sending and receiving devices.

IEEE 802.11ax - this is complete all previous standard with output data up to 10Gbps. It is a clear increase in its network capacity with additional broadband subchannels, upgraded MU-MIMO with a more simultaneous data streaming.

Benefits of Wireless standard
1. It scales economy by decreasing the cost of network equipment and other devices

2. It can give assurance to people all over the world to stay connected

3. Everyone can benefit from the digital transformation

4. It can apparently made wireless communication better and to its top improvement

The evolution of wireless standards creates a better improvement in many things around us. It makes things simpler and easy to use and upgrade most of the technology that we have for a reliable access to the internet. Our connectivity over the past decade continues to advance to reach the desired requirement in every industry.Learn more of how wireless standards works for your connection.
