Requirements For Feed In The Process Of Organic Livestock And Poultry Breeding

1. Livestock and poultry should be raised with organic feed. At least 50% of the feed should come from the feed planting base of the farm or the organic farm with cooperative relationship in the region. Feed production shall meet the requirements of crop planting in Chapter 4 of this part.


2. In the first year when the farm implements organic management, the feed produced by the feed planting base of the farm in accordance with the requirements of this standard can be used as organic feed to feed the livestock and poultry of the farm, but can not be sold as organic feed.


3. When there is a shortage of organic feed, it is allowed to buy conventional feed. However,vertical grow table the proportion of conventional feed consumption of each animal in the annual consumption shall not exceed the following percentage:


(a) Herbivores (in dry matter) 10%.

4. It must be ensured that ruminants can get roughage to meet their basic nutritional needs every day. The proportion of roughage, green feed or silage in their diet shall not be less than 60% (for dairy animals, this proportion can be reduced to 50% in the first three months). The diets of pigs and poultry must be supplemented with roughage, green feed or silage.


5. At colostrum stage, young animals must be raised by female animals and can eat enough colostrum. It is allowed to feed suckling young animals with the same kind of organic milk. When organic milk is not available, the same kind of non organic milk can be used.


It is forbidden to wean early or feed young animals with dairy substitutes. In case of emergency, it is allowed to use dairy substitutes for supplementary feeding, but it cannot contain antibiotics, chemical synthetic additives or animal slaughtering products. Lactation requires at least:


(a) Pigs and sheep, 6 weeks;


(b) Cattle and horses, 3 months.


6. The main agricultural ingredients in compound feed must obtain organic certification.


7. Genetically modified organisms or their products shall not be used in the production of feed,mobile vertical grow tables feed ingredients and feed additives.


8. The following methods and products are prohibited:


(a) Feeding ruminants with animals and their products, or feeding livestock and poultry with animals of the same family and their products; Homologous animals


(b) Unprocessed or processed animal feces in any form;


(c) Feed extracted by chemical solvent or added with chemical synthetic substances.
