To become a Chartered Professional Engineer or CPEng, you have to undergo Stage 2 Competency Standard assessment to prove your competency. Here, in this blog, we will familiarize you with the documents you need to submit to attain the Chartered status.

Required documents for Stage 2 Competency Standard assessment:
The following are the documents you need to submit to become a Chartered engineer. You can prove your competency using the following documents:
• Engineering Competency Claims (ECCs)
• Latest CV/resume
• Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Record
• Engineering Experience Record (EER)

Engineering Competency Claim (ECCs):

The pathway you choose for the CPEng Engineers Australia assessment dictates the number of engineering competency claims; it will be ranging between 11 and 16. If you choose for Engineering Competency ...
... Report or ECR pathway, then you need to submit 16 engineering competency claims (ECC). Each one of them presents a detailed explanation of personal engineering involvement in technical projects. ECCs are generally prepared on a few elements mentioned the in Stage 2 Competency Standard.
Curriculum Vitae/ Resume:

For a proper Stage 2 Competency assessment application, you need to submit your latest resume or curriculum vitae. You need to include career experience and the one you are actively interested in. Keep your CV simple and understandable.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD):

The CPD shows the skill sets and expertise in the engineering industry you have referred to. It’s a very important part of the National Engineering Registration (NER) application. You need to show how many CPD hours you have completed in the period of the last three years. It gives information about how dedicated you are towards the engineering product, workplace expectations, and technical performance.

Engineering Experience Record (EER):
Here, you provide a list of all of the professional experiences you have. You need to give the name of the company you worked in. Apart from that, you also need to make a list of work obligations and duties you had throughout your career. You must keep in mind that you need to keep your Engineering Experience Record (EER) in nearly 700 words.

Pathways to attain Chartership:
The following are the four pathways to become a CPEng:

Professional Development Program (PDP): The Professional Development Program (PDP) is a pathway for Engineers Australia members who are in quest of Chartered Status. It is the most influential way for an individual and organization to help their workers in working using the Chartered application criteria in a formal and assisted manner.

1. Engineering Competency Report (ECR):
Engineers Australia requires an Engineering Competency Report or ECR to have Chartered Membership. A member of EA who wants to be enrolled in the NER (National Engineering Registry) has to show their competency as an engineer. The competencies must be in harmony with the Stage 2 Competency requirements of Engineers Australia. The candidate going through the Engineering Competency Report pathway has to apply 16 ECCs or Engineering Competency Claims that describe their professional experience and knowledge in engineering disciplines.

2. Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA):
A Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) is a legal contract. Here, two or more countries agree to accept the findings of each other’s compatibility assessments (for instance, certifications or test results).
