How to Apply?
The assessment criteria for Interim Chartered Engineer also fulfill the requirements for Associate grade membership of the IFE. In other words, you can apply for Interim CEng registration and Associate (AIFireE) using a single application.

if you want to become Interim registered as a Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer, then you should apply for this instead of applying for Associate alone. A successful Interim application will achieve Associate membership automatically. Therefore, an Associate application doesn’t need to be made.
If you live outside the United Kingdom, then you should contact your local branch (if available) first, especially if you prefer to pay in local currency. If no local branch is available, then you prefer to deal with IFE directly.

Application requirements:

Academic requirements: provide any one of the following:
• An accredited MEng degree
• An accredited bachelor’s degree with honors in engineering together with an approved or accredited master’s degree or accredited further learning to master’s level.
You should check first whether your degrees are approved by the Engineering Council.
The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) finds both experience and academic qualifications valuable.
Due to this, IFE will consider your application if you don’t fulfill the academic qualification requirements but can prove that you have the same level of knowledge and understanding.
Based on application submission, the IFE Individual Route Panel will make a recommendation and inform you about any extra proof necessary.

Other requirements:
2 Chartered Engineer referees. In operation from 1 January 2019, these are not required any longer.
If you don’t fulfill the standard academic requirement, then submit a copy of your degree(s) course module list/transcript and a synopsis or abstract for any projects or dissertations that formed part of your degree(s).
