The HEF4094BT is a serial shift register with eight stages. For data sequencing from serial input to parallel buffered 3-state outputs QP0 to QP7, it has an analogue stage linked to a memory latch. The common bus can be directly connected to parallel outputs. Forward clock transitions cause data to be displaced. When the storage register input (STR) is high, the data of each shift register stage is allocated to the storage register. When the output-enable (OE) signal is high, data in a storage register is present at the output.
Multiple HEF4094B devices can be cascaded using the two serial outputs (QS1 and QS2). For high-speed operation in cascaded systems with fast clock rise times, serial data is provided on QS1 on the positive clock edge. On the following negative clock edge, the same serial data is available on QS2. When the clock is slowly rising, this is for serial HEF4094B devices.
