We all have bad habits that must be broken in order to like a happy and productive life whether it is smoking cigarettes, waking up late, or being unproductive at the workplace. Many companies have come up with a system called employee monitoring software to monitor their employees, however, there are a few more things that you need to keep in mind so that you have a healthy body, as well as the mindset to work.
By getting rid of these habits, you will not only be able to improve the quality of your work, but the effort required to do them will also be less. However, the first thing to do is identify them. Are you distracted easily? Do you spend a lot of time stuck on a task? Do you find it hard to concentrate even when you try your best? Does this happen with you on a regular basis? Then it is time that you identify the reason behind your procrastination and work on breaking the habits that lead towards it.

Here Are Habits you Must Break to be More Productive:

Multi-tasking- We all have been in the middle of one task and then all of a sudden start another, only later to realize that none of them ...
... gets finished effectively. Being a multi-tasker may seem interesting to some as more tasks can be accomplished in a lesser period of time however they end up either not completing both of them or not giving 100% to them. One should always concentrate on a single idea until it is finished before moving on to another.
Making Excuses– With time, many people are losing their sensitivity towards accountability at the workplace. When we are unable to complete a task, we automatically search for someone or something to blame and then say that life is not fair. Start taking responsibility for your actions and get things done.
Checking Your Email Repeatedly– Do you keep track of the number of times you check email in a day? 10, 20, 50, 100? Stop checking your email or social media, instead, check it at the end of the day so that it doesn’t distract you from work.
Reading the News Too Much– The news is best consumed in small doses especially in this century when news channels are all about money making and TRPs. The news these days is simply too much to process and can force your brain to overthink and increase negativity. It will not only just waste your time but also bring a sense of panic that will surely keep you distracted for days. Instead, limit your watch time and just go for the headlines once a day.
Having an Unclean Desk – A messy desk signifies a messy brain. You may find it harmless, however, it impacts your activities subconsciously. A messy desk impedes the ability to complete your work efficiently and bring you off-track. Hence, if you have a piled-up mess on your work desk, it is a sign to clean it up today.
Complaining – You will have to stop complaining and start doing it if you want to stay productive, it’s a waste of time and energy, don’t be one of them who always cribs about everything. If you are unhappy about your life or someone, do something to solve it. Leave your job, start a new relationship, live a happy life without complaining.
Eating a Junk Food Lunch – Eating junk food is fine if you eat it once in a while, however, if you depend on junk food almost every day, it will weigh you down and make you lazy. It will also make you unhealthy and obese. Hence, instead of being a dead body post-lunch, eat a healthy lunch that will make you energetic and fuel your body to do various tasks.
Skipping Exercise – Exercise is a great way to increase your concentration. Always remember that thinking that you do not have time to work out is just an excuse. Do not underestimate exercising as it can be your source and power to be motivated and level up your energy.
Letting Your Phone Be a Leash –Ask yourself, who is in charge of you, you or your smartphone? Do not respond to calls and messages while you are working until and unless they are related. Limit and fix your time to connect on social media platforms.
The above are a few habits that you should strive to break so that you are not stuck in a cycle of unproductivity, however, there are many others that you can add up to the list and work on. Examine yourself and the patterns you are falling into to break them for good. Ever since we have begun working from home, we are falling into this trap more and more as we work in our comfort zone that is full of distractions, whether it is an undefined workspace or simply family members chatting loudly.
It has become extremely important to draw a line to give you 100% in your work life as well as a personal one. After breaking the bad habits, it is essential to fill up your day with the good ones - start planning your day ahead, use time tracking software, limit your screen time that is unproductive, catch up with your hobbies instead of binge-watching movies and web series, make time to exercise, eat a healthy and balanced meal, connect with your family by spending quality time with them, and the list goes on.
Do not give up if you fail to do the right thing on the first go as human beings are a creature of habits and it takes time to adapt or get rid of them. Do not stress or overthink about them as every step count if you maintain consistency and do not quit. It will surely bring a sense of accomplishment and within no time you will get rid of a bad habit and adapt to the good ones for the rest of your life.
