Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a metabolic disorder that affects the hormonal levels in women. It causes hair loss, mood disorders, acne, irregular or absent periods. The marker for PCOS is the presence of small pearl-like cysts on one or both ovaries.

Polycystic ovary syndrome can also lead to unintentional weight gain. Due to the fluctuation of hormonal levels and the low metabolic rate, women who have pcos tend to put on weight faster and find it difficult to lose weight. Some women take to extreme dieting and end up harming their health in the process.

Pcos treatment has been long debated. From finding the right type of exercise to online articles claiming that diet alone can cure the pcos problem, it has become difficult to discern fact from fiction.

However, the truth is that there is no cure for polycystic ovary syndrome. It is a lifelong metabolic condition that can be managed. Managing PCOS requires the intake of a proper diet, a regular sleep schedule, slow movement exercises, and activities that promote relaxation.

A proper pcos diet means eating at regular intervals, including a ...
... healthy dosage of cruciferous vegetables, leafy green vegetables, anti-inflammatory spices such as turmeric and tomatoes, lean protein such as fish, nuts, berries, and seeds.

Alternatively, foods to avoid on a polycystic ovary syndrome diet include highly processed foods, refined foods, artificially sweetened foods. Examples of such foods include bread, muffins, pastries, desserts, and anything made with white flour. Furthermore, foods that have a high amount of sugar (sugar can also be labeled as sucrose, high fructose corn syrup, dextrose, maltose) in them should also be avoided.

Finally, it is important to note that sometimes it will not be possible to avoid certain foods. This is especially true if you are cooking for your family or live with your parents. In such situations, find relatively healthier alternatives to processed foods that everyone will enjoy.
