Third Annual Women In Cloud Day Celebrated With The Adoption Of Bill 8637

(1888 PressRelease) Led by Senator Patty Kuderer of the 48th Legislative District, the Bill acknowledges Women in Cloud’s continuous achievements and international growth within the last year, including the increasing popularity of the WIC Annual Summit.

Washington - Today, the Washington State Senate adopted Bill SR 8637, recognizing the transformational work of Women in Cloud (WIC) to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry. Led by Senator Patty Kuderer of the 48th Legislative District, the Bill acknowledges Women in Cloud’s continuous achievements and international growth within the last year, including the increasing popularity of the WIC Annual Summit.

“I am thrilled to once again stand on this virtual floor recognizing the great pioneering work of Women in Cloud. They work hard in advancing gender equity in the tech field”, said Senator Kuderer during today’s Senate Pro Forma Session.

... the strong organizational skills and steadfast commitment to supporting women in tech”, the Senator continued.

Bill SR 8637 follows the previously adopted SR 8602 and SR 8697 which recognize the previous efforts made by the Women in Cloud community and celebrate January 26th as “Women in Cloud” day.

“Year after year I speak in support of this resolution, calling out the main areas of major gender imbalance in the tech field, and that includes educational opportunities, access to venture capital, contract procurement and opportunities for promotion”, Kuderer said today of her continued support of Women in Cloud.

Despite the incredible strides women in technology have made in recent years, Senator Kuderer acknowledged the financial and emotional toll the pandemic has had on women tech entrepreneurs and their businesses, as reported by Women in Cloud in the 2020 and 2021 editions of their COVID-19 Impact Report. Although devastating, the negative impacts further prove the importance of the work Women in Cloud is doing to generate $1B in net new global revenue for women in tech by 2030.

Senator Kuderer closed her remarks with, “Today we celebrate Women in Cloud, and all the entrepreneurial women in the tech world, who are a source of inspiration, paving the way for the next generation of women and creating a 21st century that is truly inclusive of us all.”
