Tips For Keeping Your Microfibre Beach Towel Clean
As enjoyable as it is to lounge on the beach or by the pool in your favourite microfibre beach towel, cleaning it isn’t exactly easy. The good news is that you don’t have to struggle with washing your microfibre beach towel, though. With these five tips, cleaning your super absorbent beach towel is easy and effective!
Never Use Regular Detergent
Regular detergents can damage your towel, rendering it less effective at absorbing water and dirt. Even fabric softener can wreak havoc on microfiber, so avoid that as well. What you should use: use a concentrated cleaning solution specifically designed to clean microfiber, which means that it won’t stain or bleach your towel like other products. It will also keep it smelling fresh and feeling soft without any extra effort on your part!
Turn the Towel Inside Out When Washing
When it comes to washing fast drying beach towels, you don’t have to do a full laundry load. Instead, you can wash them in a top-loading washer. Simply turn your towel inside out and throw it in with other dark clothes (to help protect its colour). Wash on warm/cold and then tumble ...
... dry.
Do Not Bleach
Bleaching will break down fibres and make them less absorbent. Allowing a microfiber towel to bleach will cause it to lose its softness as well. It is recommended that you avoid bleaching because microfiber towels are easier to clean using other methods.
Do Not Iron
Most microfiber beach towel have a special, antimicrobial coating that makes them incredibly soft and capable of drying you quickly. But ironing can damage or remove these properties, so don’t risk it. The same goes for high heat washers and dryers, so opt for a cool cycle and line-dry when possible. Alternatively, if you do iron your towel, use a low temperature setting and check regularly to ensure it isn’t melting any parts or leaving behind any burn marks.
Keep Them in an Airy Place
The high quality material that microfiber is made from makes it prone to attracting odours. To avoid accumulating unwanted smells, always store your beach towel in a well-ventilated space. If you’re planning on hanging them up, try and find a place where they’ll get good air circulation – closets with doors often aren’t ideal because of all of their enclosed air. Instead, look into using drying racks or suspending them in front of an open window.
