PHP will continue to be one of the most popular and used languages in 2022. PHP programming is improving as PHP provides more relevant tools with recent updates to meet the increasing demand for complex web environments. PHP was one of the pioneering server-side languages that could be integrated with HTML, making it easy to add functionality to web pages without inviting external files to the data. Its use has evolved over the years, with regular updates and new features and capabilities.

While there is a lot of talk about the future of PHP, it is clear that PHP has a future. It is by far the most widely used back-end programming language on websites. In 2022, you need to learn PHP. It doesn't matter which languages like Ruby, Python and JavaScript are more popular in 2022, but more than 45% developers are developing websites in PHP. If you look at the numbers, PHP is certainly not dead. About 75% of all active websites are powered by PHP. Based on statistics, it is reasonable to conclude that PHP is not dead because 75 percent is too high a number.

One of the reasons many websites use PHP is that WordPress ...
... uses PHP. WordPress has a market share of about 34 percent of all sites. 75 million websites are running in WordPress. In addition, there are other CMS such as Drupal (3%) and Joomla (2%) that also have significant market shares. And there are popular business management systems like Magento, that account for around 1% of the total market share.

Another reason why PHP has become so popular is that it is relatively easy to get started. Most people, even without extensive web development knowledge or experience, can create a website with a single PHP file in a relatively short time. The syntax is straightforward and the command functions are easy to learn, which means that PHP has lower access limits than many other languages.

Open access is available for a wide variety of PHP frameworks, such as Laravel and Symfony. This feature is also great for businesses because it helps control the cost of web development.

One of the main advantages of PHP is that it is platform independent, which means that it can be used on Mac OS, Windows, Linux and is compatible with most web browsers. It is also compatible with all major web servers, making it easy to deploy to a variety of systems and platforms at minimal cost.
As a widely used veteran scripting language, PHP now has a large and loyal community base behind it. There are many tutorials, FAQs and tips to help new PHP developers continue to push the boundaries of the language with regular updates.

Two things every organization wants their website or app to have are fast and secure. PHP uses its own memory and competes well on speed, especially when using newer versions. There have been questions about the security of PHP in the past, although it is important to note that it is not inherently more or less secure than other programming languages. Thanks to its widespread use and community support, there are now a number of tools, frameworks, and best practices to address vulnerabilities and protect against cyberattacks.
