Choose The Right Size Van When Booking Man With Van

There are various pros and cons of making this kind of move, using a man with van and drawing on the strength of lots of eager young backs of family and friends. They say that many hands make light work, but there are certain issues that need to be focused on when hiring a man with van to move your possessions to a new location. Obviously, if you only have sufficient possessions to make a studio flat home then you are not going to have too much to move. Even just hiring a man with van there could be legal implications that need to be considered, on top of which, this kind of removal can be extremely hard work.
Coordinating the Move
Remember that, until you have the keys to your new property in your hand, you are unable to unload your possessions and, if you can't get the keys until mid-afternoon that is going to tie you up in a removals chain, a place where you really don't want to be, believe me. It adds to the stress of removal considerably! Now, imagine the scenario of you have a man with van and could only get part of your possessions on board, leaving the rest at home for the next trip. Not only will the next ...
... people moving into your property be waiting for you to drop the key off with the estate agent, but this delay will filter all the way back along the line: being the cause of so much disruption on moving day is not a place for the faint-hearted - the removal company will not be happy either!
When Hiring a Man with Van, Consider your Requirements
The traditional van usually associated with house moves is the Luton box van. The Luton has a long wheel-base with a box fitted fair and square on the chassis. If you pack a Luton box van carefully you should be able to get the contents of a one-bedroom flat in on a single trip - unless, of course, you have acquired considerable clutter along the way. Unless you have hired a Luton van with hydraulic tail life you can expect to have to lift items around two to three feet when loading.
Obviously, the man with van is experienced at loading his van so would be in a better position to do the actual loading, usually just requiring the odd pair of hands to maneuver round corners. The Transit van is good value if you only need to carry around 800kgs, including sofa, kitchen appliances and a wardrobe or two. This is quite an economical option as, on a run, it will average around 35 miles to the gallon. A similar van with a long wheel-base and high top will carry as much as 1400kgs of items for removal. There is also the high top 7.5 ton box wagon that you can drive on your ordinary license. This is big enough to carry a good load, usually getting the majority of possessions transported in a single trip.
