How To Increase The Conversion Rate For Your Website?
In this article, we want to share with you the 6 must-haves to ensure that you're converting as many visitors into customers as we're starting right now.
Hey everybody! If you are new here, and looking for tactical tips to help you grow your business, then you are at the right place.
If you have a website or you're thinking of having a website. Or you're redesigning your website and you're not quite sure whether it's performing as best as it should, there are seven must-haves for all service-based businesses and pretty much every type of business and those you should have on your website.
Let's start with the first one
Above-the-fold Clarity
Above-the-fold clarity means anything that you can see without having to scroll. It's a reference to how a webpage is folded in a stand, where you only see half of it.
Visitors will see without having to scroll. And above the fold is super important because this is where the vast majority of your visitors will keep scrolling.
We have seen some statistics that say that it's like 3 to 5 seconds; some say 5 to 7 seconds to decide to stay on a page ...
... or leave. As a result, you must get it done right.
So how can you do it?
First of the vast majority of websites out there lack clarity which means:
It is confusing.
There's too much navigation.
There are too many things for you to look at.
There are too many pictures that are scrolling.
The title is not clear.
We don't even know what the call-to-action says or
It says learn more or more info. We only like what do you do
So our thumb rule for above-the-fold is less is more.
Navigation and all the icons
If you have icons out there, look at them and then decide do you need to have all of this?
It doesn't help in conversion because it gives them too many choices to look at. And it confuses the visitors. For example, when someone lands on your website they don't need to see that should be a law on your website probably in the footer.
If they want to connect with you on social media, they don't want to struggle to find it - they don't belong in the upper right-hand corner. All it does is confuse people. It might take them someplace else instead of converting here on the website.
The next thing is a lot of websites have multiple images that are called a cow or cell. What we found is that 80 % of people will never look past the first image. So you're putting a lot of images for people to look at that nobody looks at it.
So one single powerful image is all you need. Now that image should bring positive results. The image should speak for itself. It shouldn't be confusing.
The title of the website
A lot of websites get it wrong. What we see is viewers for examples like landscaping services or drafting services. The problem here is you're describing what you doing and that don’t help viewers in making a decision.
And chances are some of them were already looking for a dentist or a landscaping company. So when someone lands on your website they already know what they are going to get - services or something else.
So why mention it again? It makes no sense what you should be thinking. Instead, what are the benefits that they will get from working with you? The question they have in their mind is how is this going to make my life better or what are going to be the benefits for me.
So take the example of the real estate company. Instead of describing landscaping services, it should say something like get your own home, be the envy of the neighborhood and instead of saying affordable housing just say something like a quote you can be proud of.
And the final thing that you need to have above the fold is a
Clear and Direct Call to Action
For the call to action, I see a lot of “learn more” or “get started” buttons.
You don't want to learn more anything. Call to action needs to describe what the first step of working with you is.
For example, if the first step of working with you is “getting a quote” or “getting a consultation”, the call to action should be “get a quote” or “get a consultation”. That's a much better call to action than getting started. But let's make that call to action even better. Let's call it "get your quote" instead of "get a quote". And if you want to make that call to action even better with a little bit of sense of urgency, use “get your quote today”.
Now, if you put those simple improvements above the fold, that's going to go a long way to convert a lot more customers. Let's go-to point number two.
The Clear Value Proposition with Empathy
And the second thing you need to do on your website to convert more customers is having a clear value proposition with empathy. A clear value proposition with empathy is an eye-catchy line or a message that tells what are the benefits of working with you.
If your approach is like that, then people are going to trust that you understand them. And that will go a long way from converting them from visitors to a prospect.
They will reach out to you because they'll feel like you understand their pain that's a great way to position your company as opposed to bragging about all the stuff at look how great I am like nobody cares like have empathy for them that's the way to go.
Step-by-Step Planning
The third thing is you need on your website is an easy step-by-step plan or method.
How do you handle clients when they come to you?
Do you have a step one we do this?
A step two we do this?
And a step three we'll finally get that.
It needs to be easy. It needs to be simple. Customer from all segment needs to understand it.
What does this do for your visitors?
It shows that you have a method to your madness. It's very reassuring when you're landing on your website knowing that that person has a step-by-step method.
Now you don’t want that step-by-step method to make it super complicated like a complex program. That's going to be crazy. You want three-step or up to six steps at the most.
Now the fourth thing is
Testimonials
You need testimonials on your websites right. You must have seen a lot of websites that have either too many testimonials or not enough. The thumb rule for testimonials is either four or a maximum of six. And you want those testimonials to have a picture of the customer, his/her name, and something that identifies that person either a city or a company or a title.
The content for a testimonial needs to show that it solved the purpose. So it needs to have a before and after like so I had an issue with this and I hire this company XYZ and they solved my problem and now my business is better. That is the ideal testimonial. And the reason why you need to have a picture is people want to see themselves in the testimony.
Now don't confuse in between a testimonial and a review. Everybody knows that a testimonial is not objective. It's always going to be great like who's going to put a bad testimony on their website right looks like nobody is going to do that.
So you and I know that the testimonial is only going to say a nice thing. So the purpose of the testimonial is twofold:
Moving on to the fifth part which is
Call to Action at Multiple Places
Make sure that your call to action on your website is clear and precise. We talked about it in the above section where you need to have a clear call to action but your call to action needs to be in multiple places of the website because people going to scroll the page.
So you cannot just have the call to action at the top. It needs to be repeated in multiple sections of the website like in the middle and towards the bottom.
Now you can change up your calls to action. They don't all have to be the same thing because people will respond to different calls to action.
So the one at the top can be “get a quote today” but another call to action in the middle can be “request a consultation” and then towards the bottom “call us today” for more information with the phone number. That's going to give people multiple ways to get in touch with you that may resonate with them.
Someone wants to quote, someone may resonate with the consultation and someone may want to pick up the phone and call. You need to give them multiple calls to action that will get people to be in contact with you which is really what you are.
And the last but important thing on your website to convert more visitors into prospects is
Homepage Videos
A recent survey on website conversion showed that a video on your website will improve conversion by 80%. The content of the video should be just about the same thing as your website. It needs to start with the benefit i.e. they don't want your services; they want to know what's in it for them and what are the benefits.
Conclusion
Well to conclude all this in short, you can optimize your website for better conversions by highlighting:
Above the fold content of the homepage are navigation, your website title, and call to navigation.
Then comes the value you are offering and in which proposition while understanding the customer needs.
After that, you can present how you work.
With this, you can further add testimonials for your potential customers to believe in you.
And then comes the most important part which is a call to action. It has to be placed at the top, middle, and bottom of the page differently.
In the last to add icing on the cake, you can add a homepage video that shows how a customer can count on you.
Now if you do those seven things on your website this week you will surely be going to convert a lot more visitors to your website into prospects and grow your business
