4 Signs You May Need To Replace Your Ford Tyres

Sydney drivers subject their vehicles to all kinds of driving. Whether it's a day in the stifling city heat, or a trip to the outback to kick up some dust, your tyres have to handle a variety of situations. If you drive a Ford, you'll want to look for genuine Ford tyres when you need a replacement. These are easy to get from your local ford dealership in Sydney. But when do you need to replace your tyres?
4 Signs You May Need to Replace Your Ford Tyres at a Ford Dealership in Sydney
1. Losing Grip in Inclement Weather
Almost every Ford vehicle comes equipped with all-season or “year-round” tyres as a standard feature. Some may come with tyres that are especially designed for off-road driving. In either case, your tyres should have no problem handling rain on the road. But if they start to lose traction when the road gets wet, that's a sign you might need new tyres. How can you tell? Here are some signs to look for.
Stopping distance is one of the first things you will notice. If you notice that your brakes aren't as effective ...
... in the rain, that could be a sign that your tyres don't have enough tread to whisk away the water. Likewise, if your anti-lock brakes activate, which you'll feel as a rumbling in the brake pedal, then your tyres aren't getting enough traction. If you feel skidding or find it difficult to turn on a wet road, blame your tyres.
2. Chirping, Squealing, and Other Strange Sounds
You can also identify failing tyres on a sunny day. As your tires lose traction, they're more likely to slip. This is most common when you suddenly accelerate or take a turn a little too quickly. This slippage produces signature sounds that you can hear. A chirp or squeal usually means you're losing traction. If you notice these sounds on routine turns or as you take off on a green light, it's time for a tyre check.
You may hear other sounds, though. A low repetitive thump could indicate damage to the belts inside the tyre. This sound means that every rotation there is an uneven spot in the tyre that causes a slight bump. Another possible cause here could be a bad tyre mounting, so perhaps the tyre itself isn't to blame. In either case, if you're hearing odd noises from a particular corner of the car, odds are your tyres are due for replacement.
3. Deformed Sidewalls
You can detect some tyre problems with a quick visual inspection. If you see bulges or chunks of rubber missing from the sidewall of the tyre, then you should have it replaced with genuine tyres immediately. These deformations can lead to a total failure.
4. Low Tread
Another quick way to visually check your tyres is to look at the total amount of tread. Your tyres might not develop any of the symptoms we've mentioned, yet they could be close to bare. Most tyres today have indicators when your tread is too low. You will see coloured strips of rubber that let you know it's time for a change.
And that's all you need to know about your tyres. When it's time to replace them, visit your Ford dealer.
