Cleaning companies in New York are relatively easy to find. You can look in the Yellow pages or online, ask a friend or neighbor for recommendations. Finding one that fits your needs specifically, however, might prove a little more daunting. You might have a small home or apartment, or need a cleaning company that can handle a New York City office complex or suite of offices. You might need only occasional help, or require twice-a-day maintenance. You might have a one-time job after a party or holiday get-together, or getting an apartment or house ready to rent or sell.

You’ll need to have a list of questions on-hand before you make your first calls. You might be surprised at the range of services offered by New York City cleaning companies these days. Do you need special services included, like laundry or windows? Will your cleaning company need to provide an organizer to start with, to deal with unwanted or over-the-top clutter? Do you have a particularly messy job and might be facing eviction or trouble with the city? Do you need help packing or unpacking during a move? Are they available on the days ...
... or during the hours you need them? Are you interested in “green cleaning”, using natural products that are safe for your home and the environment? Do you or someone in your family suffer from allergies or asthma and require something specialized to deal with those problems? Would you trust one of your new cleaning company’s staff in your home alone? Do you need for the cleaning service to provide dumpsters or containers?

If you own a business or businesses, prepare to ask questions germane to your situation, including: Is your potential cleaning company licensed, insured and bonded? Do they have a staff that has been trained, or do they hire subcontractors? Do they have a satisfaction guarantee? Prepare to offer answers to the questions **they’ll** have for you, including how big is the space and how intensive will the cleaning be? What hours will you expect service and how many offices/ service areas will they be responsible for? Is there specific cleaning you need, or is it just a general emptying of the trash and quick vacuum?

In either situation (home or business), the New York City cleaning company will be able to give you an estimate based on your particular needs, including a potential hourly rate, or a monthly full-service cleaning contract. The more reputable businesses will have a slew of references and will be fully licensed, bonded and insured. Their employees will be drug- and background-tested and legally able to work in the United States. They will have answers to all your questions, and reliable customer service after they start working. They will offer a guarantee of satisfaction for the work they complete.

So do your research online or by phone, and ask your friends and neighbors. But be prepared to ask a lot of questions yourself.
