How To Identify Your Child’s Primary Learning Style - Dr. K. R. Shroff Foundation
Every child is unique and therefore their ability to learn and adapt is different. Children observe everything while learning. All of this is true, but at the same time, the power of understanding comes mainly from the inheritance of parents. At the same time, the home and school environment also play a very important role in the learning process.
When it comes to children’s educational achievements, the role of parents’ guidance and proper nutrition proves to be very important. In this way, it is very important for the parents to guide the children in the right direction.
How do children learn? It is necessary to know.
According to the thinking and observation of experienced and expert people, children learn the most by:
Visual (Visual)
Listening (Audio)
Pravruti (doing any activity yourself)
Just look at your child and you can tell by looking at him/her in which category he/she will fall into?
Let’s try to understand this matter in detail again.
Learning by sight(Visuals)
: – If your child is very interested in arts and crafts and understands more than ...
... facial expressions, then understand that his/her memory is very good; is strong, and learns well from his/her eye (vision)
Learning through listening (audio)
: – If your child is more sensitive to handling and prefers to read aloud then he/she falls into this category. That is learning more from listening skills. Such children connect more interestingly with the powers of hearing. He/She gets more involved in the discussion.
Learning through practice. (Kinesthetic Doing Learning)
: – These children learn from body language. That is, he/she learns quickly by watching and engaging himself in any activity. This means that if your child chooses to touch and feel things to better understand them, he or she will learn more from this third way.
Does your child need to understand more? So let’s try to figure out what he likes to learn more (you can guess which category suits him for learning)
Step-1 Make a list using about 30 to 40 words. Then prepare four sets of 10 – 10 words. And write synonyms against each word.
Step-2: On the first day, ask him to learn the meaning of 10 words using his eyes only, that is, he can remember what he saw with his eyes. Hear 10 words in his ear the next day. Evaluate and see how many words he can handle and remember.
Step-3 On the final day, ask them to learn a set of words using hand gestures and body language or by handling music. And observe.
This will help you to identify the children with all three methods and help them to know which method they are learning better.
