What exactly is Rudraksha?
The Rudraksha tree, produces Rudraksha seed, also known as Elaeocarpus ganitrus (Scientific name). Rudra (another name for Lord Shiva) + Aksha (tear drop) are two Sanskrit words that make up this name. Rudraksha primarily refers to “Lord Shiva’s Tears.” The tears, it is told, are the consequence of Shiva’s compassion as he thought on humanity’s eternal suffering. In essence, Rudraksha provides mankind with relief from pain and a connection to the holy Aksha, which also means Shiva’s eye in Sanskrit.
Rudraksha is the most sacred bead in Hinduism, and it is worn by famous Yogis, monks, saints, sages, and religious people from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, China, and across Asia.
DO’s
Wear with the way prescribed. Although Rudraksha never has side effect, it is always better to wear in a proper prescribed manner. Make sure to recite the Beej Mantra of the bead at least 5 times before wearing the bead for the first time. (For knowing the beej mantra of different Rudraksha, visit www.rudrakshahub.com )
It is suggested that Rudraksha be cleaned every six months.
...
... Wear on a Monday but in case a Monday is not possible, wear on the day of the prescribed God. If that is also not possible, wear on any day except a few days like Saturday, Amavsya (No Moon Day), Grahan (Eclipse), Sootak Kaal (The duration of cleaning and getting pure when someone in the family expires), Saudi Kaal/ Vriddhi Kaal (15 days of the new born baby in the family), Pitra Paksha (15 days of Pitra coming on Earth), Kharmaas/ Poos Maas (30 days of no Shubh Activity) and some similar occasions when go Shubh activity should be performed.
Wear with a clean intention. Thinking of harming someone else will not help your cause.
DON’Ts
Do not wear while drinking alcoholic beverages or eating non vegetarian food.
Do not put Rudraksha in dirty places like mouth, shoes, toilet, bathroom, or in any place where you will not keep Pooja items.

Do not touch with dirty hands. If your hands are dirty, wash them before touching Rudraksha.
Do not abuse verbally or with actions or try anything mean for anyone while wearing Rudraksha.
Do not perform Jaap or Shringaar with the same Rudraksha that you wear. Use different Rudraksha for wearing, Jaap and Shringaar each.
