The Best Wheel Chocks And Why You Need Them?
Every road vehicle needs one of these, whether you're driving a car, truck, bus, or even a motorbike. The best wheel chocks are an incredibly simple and affordable option that can help keep your vehicle safe while you work under the hood or have it jacked up in the air. If you don't have the right kind of wheel chock, you run the risk of your car rolling away and causing accidents or damage.
Wheel chocks are usually made from a dense rubber that won't budge even when under a lot of weight, making them perfect for keeping your vehicle stationary while it's on blocks or on flat ground. You can also use wheel chocks to stop a vehicle from rolling when it's in a dangerous area, such as near a steep incline or at the top of an exit ramp.
When you're choosing wheel chocks for your vehicle, there are three different types to choose from:
1. Wedge type chock – These wedge-shaped wheel chocks can be tilted in order to get them under your tire. Once your wheel is in place, they provide the right kind of resistance so it doesn't roll away.
2. Cam-style chocks ...
... – These are best used where you can get at least two sides of the chock underneath the tire. Before setting up these wheel chocks, you need to position them so that one side sits securely on the ground. The other side should be against your tire, at a steep angle. You can then use an opening in the chock to get traction for driving it underneath your vehicle's tire.
3. Wheel spinners – Instead of using heavy rubber or plastic structures to stop your tires from moving, these wheel chocks use the same kind of mechanism as a screw jack to keep your tires from rolling away.
If you need wheel chocks for your vehicle but aren't sure if you have the space required for some types, try out our range of locking wheel chocks. By locking your wheel chock in place with an integrated bracket, you can ensure your vehicle stays in the same place while it's being worked on.
As long as you're working around your car, it's important to have wheel chocks in place. Even if you're not jacking up the vehicle or working under the hood, there might be a time when you need to move it and don't want it rolling away. For example: If you do any repair work on the road, you should have wheel chocks in place before getting under the hood. And if you make any arrangement to let your car run idle, wheel chocks are a must-have addition to keep your vehicle from moving while it's unattended.
