The New Digital Age
In order to stay competitive in this digital age, businesses need to employ digital solutions that deliver tangible business results and value. A shift towards automation and digitization have also evolved the way businesses are run. Most of the data generated and transferred today is becoming more personal.

Businesses are creating a major shift in their spending to this new digital era. Although a considerable amount of resources will be spent to reach the technological heights in this digital transformation for the government in UAE, the overwhelming majority of this new spending will be spent to move things forward.

The importance of the ...
... physical infrastructure is evident when looking at the implications of the global shortage of the engineers skilled to design, build, operate, and maintain data centers.

Getting to Know Your IT Infrastructure
Below are the five key elements of IT infrastructure that businesses should consider:

1. Data Center Network

Data Center Network is one of the most important parts of IT infrastructure. In simple terms, it acts as the interconnect of all your data center components. The DCN is important to have in place to ensure consistent and reliable network connections. Your Infrastructure Managed services must be in place to support network traffic from your assets to ensure optimal traffic and availability.

2. Campus Area Network

Campus Area Network is another key component in data center infrastructure. It's the backbone of a data center. This network connects buildings across your organization. This is often used to connect servers that are operating in different areas.

What is a Data Center Network?
A data center is a physical facility where the servers are housed. The physical structures of data centers consist of at least a building with at least four 'densities', where at least one 'density' must be taken. The density represents the number of servers placed in each room.

The most common occupancy rates of the buildings of data centers are 1.0, 1.2, 1.5 and 2.0. A typical data center has multiple large levels for servers that make up the data center. This is known as a server rack. Each server has one or more power plugs.

These servers provide virtual machines (VMs) to different client devices. It has enough power to accommodate data process applications in UAE at least one dozen (12) applications running simultaneously

What is a Campus Area Network?
It is an extension of the legacy network for more flexible service provisioning

In most business scenarios, whether a local network or campus area network is used, the LAN is usually a dedicated network in the data center network. In some cases, it can be split into two networks, one which is used by a service provider (such as a cellular carrier) and another one that is accessible to clients for data transfer

For interconnection to the external network, there are typically two choices; either the building the network is located on or the internal Network Operations Center in UAE with the corporate headquarters.

What Is Wireless Networking?
This term has evolved in the past years to describe the system of transmitting and receiving information via the air. All the information within this system is transmitted via the air through radio waves and uses antennas that are embedded in the network.

The wireless networks are able to support continuous flow of data. This is possible by ensuring that all the antennas are installed in the same way as every other antenna, on the side of the source and the receiver. The signals are transmitted and received from the network through optical fiber.

Communication with the intended recipients is generally carried over very fast wireless networks. This means that the messages sent to the users are in real time and are downloaded much faster.

Conclusion
Due to the nature of the cloud and mobile apps, most of the applications need a strong and stable network connection. However, this is also dependent on the IT infrastructure being deployed.

This includes campus area networks, wireless connectivity, and Internet connectivity (commonly known as WiFi connectivity).
