Delhi News Live: Kejriwal Says Six-point Action Plan To Clean Yamuna; Capital’s Air Quality In ‘very Poor’ Category

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said his government has prepared a six-point plan to clean the Yamuna river to bathing standards by February 2025. He said the government is constructing new sewage treatment plants and increasing the capacity of the existing ones as well as upgrading those. “This will increase our sewage treatment capacity from around 600 million gallons of wastewater a day to 750 MGD-800 MGD,” Kejriwal said.

Meanwhile, The air quality in the national capital remained in the very poor category with the air quality index (AQI) clocking the value of 344 at 8 am on Thursday, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed. Though it remained in the very poor category, the AQI improved marginally at 344 on Thursday from its previous day’s index value of 375.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will take a call on putting in place harsher measures to improve Air Quality Index (AQI) levels in the national capital after November 21, and asked the Centre and the states involved to follow directions issued by the ‘The Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas’.
