You have already decided to get home care for yourself or your loved one. The next question now would be: which home care agency to hire?

There are many Atlanta home care agencies. But not all agencies are created equal. Hence, it is important to know what to evaluate before hiring one. Make sure that you get an in-home assessment first so that you will be able to fully know the extent and type of care needed. It’s also important that the agency has a solid caregiver screening system and that all caregivers are bonded and insured. It would als be great to get a home care agency that accepts Medicaid in Atlanta.

Aside from these, here are some of the things you should look into when hiring a qualified home care agency:

1. Experience
Check the experience of the caregivers working in the agency. An agency composed of experienced and seasoned caregivers will most likely provide quality care.

2. Health, competency, and skills
The home care agency must meet standard testing to ensure the competency, health, and skills of their caregivers.

3. ...
... Code of conduct
Experience and skills are not enough. You need to make sure that the caregivers have great core values: respectful, caring, and well-mannered. Character and attitude matter too. Check if the agency conducts training and certification programs regarding this area.

4. Unscheduled visits
A good agency ensures that its caregivers are performing well. This is why you should consider an agency that provides unscheduled visits by field nurse supervisors.

5. Communication is key
Hire a home care agency that constantly communicates with you regarding the status of the client. Caregivers who take notes, alert family members for concerns, and quickly respond to your concerns are a big plus.

6. Flexibility and availability
You need an agency that offers flexible scheduling and has a solid overtime policy. An agency that offers 24-hour/7-days a week arrangement would be great. Make sure that they’ll provide a replacement in case the primary caregiver is not available.

On top of these, make sure the home care agency provides full range of services to ensure that all your needs are covered.
