The British Museum is a massive building that contains over seven million exhibits, including the the worlds oldest mummy, the Rosetta Stone, Lindow Man, and the famous Elgin Marbles. The exhibits cover not just the history of Britain but of the entire world, with an emphasis on classical civilisations such as the ancient Egyptians, the Greeks, and the Romans.

If you are a book lover, you should make the time to visit the British Library while you are in London. It includes several rare and priceless exhibits such as the original manuscripts for novels such as Alice in Wonderland and Jane Eyre, the Magna Carta, a Gutenberg Bible, and original music scores by Beethoven and Handel.

With over four and a half million exhibits spread across 12.5 acres and 145 galleries, the Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington is home to the biggest permanent collection of decorative art and design anywhere in the world. And best of all, it is free to get in.

When they unveil a new waxwork of a present day celebrity, it is not unknown for the celebrity in question to turn up and invite the watching public to spot the difference.

No trip to London would be complete without a night out in Londons famous West End theatre district. There are several theatres in this area, showing a wide variety of popular musicals and stage plays.
