With the rise of veganism in 2010, the choice of using plant milk as an alternative to cow’s milk is on the rise. Almond milk has become one of the most preferred plant milk in the world. This is because it is naturally rich in several essential nutrients.

What Are The Essential Nutrients Present In Almond Milk?
Almond milk nutrition values exceed those of cow’s milk. For example, almond milk contains a larger amount of calcium (up to 37% of the DV) than cow’s milk. It also contains an exorbitant amount of vitamin E, a disease-fighting antioxidant.

The amount of calcium and vitamin E, combined with the lower amount of calories present in almond milk makes it the perfect addition to any balanced diet. It also tastes better than cow’s milk. When enriched with Vitamin D, it becomes similar to cow’s milk in nutritional value.

The nutty earthy taste of the milk means that it can be added to any recipe to enhance the recipe's taste. Using almond milk, usually, we can bake sponge cakes or we can make puddings. With a few fruits or greens, we can also blend the milk to make a delicious almond milk ...

How To Make A Delicious Smoothie Using Almond Milk?
To make a delicious smoothie using almond milk, it is important to get milk of good quality. One which is store-bought may contain preservatives and sugar. To avoid this, we can always make freshly pressed almond milk at home. To begin with, add almonds or almond butter to a blender. Then add water as needed and blend. Once the milk from the almonds is extracted, remove the mixture and strain using a muslin cloth or cheesecloth. The milk made from almonds should be watery in consistency and can be left outside at room temperature. It will not go to waste.

Next, to make this delicious smoothie, add two cups of frozen strawberries (or berries of your choice) to a blender. Add the milk, a sweetener such as honey or agave, and ice to the blender. Blend well until you get a thick smoothie.

The secret to making delicious smoothies using almond milk is to use frozen berries. Since the milk made from almonds has a watery consistency, the smoothie will taste best when frozen strawberries are used, so always try to have a few packs in your fridge.

If you don’t like strawberries, then a few alternatives to add to this smoothie would be frozen mangoes, frozen blueberries, frozen pineapples, or frozen mixed berries.

While almond milk is great and has many essential nutrients, it is not a good source of protein. Hence, when making the smoothie, it is important to add another source of protein. Excellent sources of protein include peanut butter or a plant-based protein powder.

What Are The Benefits Of Almond Milk?
There are several benefits to consuming almond milk regularly. Firstly, packed with essential nutrients, it is a suitable alternative for vegans or people who suffer from lactose intolerance. However, if you have kidney stones, it is not advisable to consume this milk. This is because almonds contain a high amount of calcium oxalate. This is especially true if you consume homemade almond milk.

Secondly, almond milk is great for weight management. Almonds are high in fat and calories, but their milk has a lower amount of fat and calories than skim milk! This is because the almonds are diluted with water to produce milk.

Thirdly, when unsweetened, the milk produced by almonds doesn’t raise blood sugar. This means that the milk is safe for diabetics and those on a low-carb diet. Further, if enriched with vitamin D, almond milk reduces fatigue, increases vitamin D levels in the body, helps strengthen bone density, and prevents osteoporosis.

Finally, almond milk helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Studies have shown that when almond milk is taken regularly, there are beneficial changes in the blood lipid profile. Containing a high number of good fats, the milk of almonds increases good fats by at least 6%. This makes it an excellent choice when looking for cardiovascular-friendly milk. Scientists believe that the high amount of vitamin E and oleic acid in the milk helps keep a healthy heart.

To conclude, almond milk is one of the friendliest milk to add to your diet. Whether you add this nutritious milk to your diet because you are lactose intolerant, trying to manage weight, or looking out for your heart’s health, almond milk is your go-to!
