Brenda's Baby Supports Underserved Communities In Maryland

1888 Press Release - Brenda’s Baby Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the community through social-emotional development, mental health and well-being services and providing essential resources, education and support. The nonprofit has already made great strides in supporting the community and is working to increase the support offered.
GERMANTOWN, MD – Brenda’s Baby was founded in 2020 by Yashanya Gaither. The foundation was named after her late mother.
“We are committed to investing expertise and resources to further achieve our mission to improve the social-economic development of disadvantaged families,” Gaither said. “We have been supporting community members in various ways and measure success by the scale and effectiveness of our efforts, not by monetary size. Our team is made up of kind, friendly and thoughtful people who take pride in making change, and we are excited about what we can achieve.”
Since its inception, Gaither and her team started a weekend food box program that has helped around 50 families with food insecurities and provided 13 families with a turkey ...
... dinner. Brenda’s Baby partnered with Interfaith Works to donate almost 3,000 pounds of clothing. They gave backpacks full of school supplies to 30 children and families. They also partnered with the National Center for Families and Children (NCCF) and Steppingstones Shelters to provide an uplifting spa day experience for socially and economically disadvantaged women.
The team plans to expand its service to offer care packages for mothers and babies to fill a gap left by government assistance programs. Governmental assistance supplies formula in times of crisis but does not offer supplies such as diapers, wipes, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, diaper rash cream, onesies and other baby essentials included in the Brenda’s Baby care package.
The packages will be available on a buy one, give one basis. People can subscribe or make a one-time purchase of a care package. For each package purchased, one will be donated to a mother and baby in need. Brenda’s Baby’s goal with the project is to work with the government to distribute the care boxes during disasters.
Brenda's Baby is currently serving Maryland and the greater DMV area. For more information or to make a donation, visit brendasbaby.org.
