Who can qualify for the exams?
Those who do not qualify in NEET Part 1 can opt for NEET Part 2.

Students who wish to opt for the Direct Entry Counselling by giving test results in NEET would be asked to appear in a counselling exam conducted by the State Medical Councils.

NEET has played a significant role in reducing the admission at medical courses through State or National Counselling. As many as 10 states which used to have nearly 35% of students appearing at their counselling exercises now have less than 5% students appearing there.

How are the entrance exams work?
The Entrance examination includes General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and is conducted over a period of two days (including the weekends) in different centers across India. Each exam consists of 180 Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

The students who qualify the NEET Examination will be eligible for admission into MBBS/BDS Courses conducted through CET at Medical/Dental Colleges depending on their merit position in the Entrance Examination.
Students will have to indicate their preference for All India Quota Seats or State Quota Seats during the counselling procedure. In case of a tie between two or more candidates in the counselling process, the preference indicated for the All India Quotas will be considered for deciding the rank amongst such candidates.

About 50,000 students appear in both NEET and NEET-PG.
NEET Part 1 is conducted for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses and NEET Part 2 is conducted for admission to Post Graduate Courses (MD/MS) in Medicine and Dentistry. The exam pattern of both the exams is similar but depends on whether it is NEET or NEET PG.
NEET Part 1 consists of 180 MCQs with only choice options.

NEET Part 2 consists of 180 MCQs with three choices for each question. You will have to choose "A" or "B" for the first option and "C" or "D" for the second option.

NEET PG is conducted after 10+2 examination in certain centres across India during the month of August/September every year. NEET PG is an entrance exam that determines admission to Post Graduate Courses in various medical disciplines including MD/ MS, MDS, MCh, MSCEd, MSCEd(Hons), MD/MS (General Medicine), MD/MS (Internal Medicine), MD/MS (ENT), etc.
