Depending upon the artist, the preparation of canvas varies. In every phase of preparation, there you will find a number of options. Here, in this article, you will find the most effective ways for oil painting on canvas. So, keep following the rest of the article thoroughly and get to know the ways of oil painting.

Canvas, the most popular support used by painters, does not relate to a specific material but can refer to several different types of tightly woven cloth. Cotton and linen are the two most frequent canvases used as a foundation for oil painting, with linen being the more costly. When both are unprimed, they are not covered with a substance that stops the paint from soaking through the surface and degrading the canvas, they are clearly differentiated. Both types of canvas can be bought primed or unprimed; either manner is fine.

Gather the Materials
While you start oil painting on canvas this is the first thing you should do. There are some basic requirements. ...
... Be ready with the primary supplies. You should have paint brushes with hog hair, oil paints, a palette where you can easily mix the colours, canvas, solvent, an easel, paper towels and so on. Be sure to start with the basic colours. This will give you a better chance of experimenting with better and perfect things. Also, ensure the size of the brushes with which you are [planning to paint.

Set Up a Proper Workspace
Most of the people think that home will be the right place for them. If you have enough space at your place then it will be the right choice. Or else, look for such a big hall room type space. The solvents used to dilute the paint and clean your brushes are poisonous, as are the oil paints themselves. Hence, choose such a place that is with more ventilation.

Prime Your Canvas
This is one of the most important steps for you while you are doing oil painting on canvas. As oil paint is thick and may seep into your canvas you should handle it carefully. You can use gesso that is made with chalk, pigment and gypsum. Though it takes hours to dry it is helpful too. If needed then contact professionals who will help you in this regard.
