Tablet devices are making a comeback these days. The pandemic has brought attention to the gadget category’s utility and versatility as a professional and personal tool. This year, Apple is obviously capitalizing on the trend, revealing a new iPad and iPad Mini at its September product announcement. We’ve been assessing out the latest Mini to see what it has to offer in terms of new features.

A tablet is still a luxury for many of us; it’s a third device that you use in addition to your smartphone and computer, which are also necessities. However, this is changing, and many people now find that a tablet can handle their entire workflow. Still, for most of us, an iPad will be most useful for reading a book or magazine, perusing the Internet, playing mobile games, or sketching or taking notes. Tablets are desirable because of their portability and versatility, and iPads have a large app ecosystem, making them among the most desirable choices in the category.

iPad Mini Design
The new iPad Mini is smaller significantly smaller than the previous model, and it also weighs less. It features a flat edge ...
... design, similar to that of the current iPhones when it comes to appearance, and a SIM card slot is located on the right side. The USB Type-C charging port is also located on the bottom. More speaker openings, volume control buttons, and a power button are located on the top. In comparison, more speaker openings, volume control buttons, and a power button are located on the bottom.

One clever feature is that the iPad encourages you to enter a second fingerprint from your other hand during setup because when you use the device in landscape mode, your left hand will naturally fall on the sensor. Purple, pink, space grey and starlight are the four colors available with the iPad Mini.

iPad Mini Display
The home button in the iPad mini has been replaced by a fingerprint sensor in the power button, which is the first thing you notice about the iPad Mini’s screen. Although this has given the display more real estate, the bezels around the outside remain very thick and prominent.

This may reduce the screen’s immersion a little, but it does not affect its quality. You’ll get a resolution of 2266 x 1488 pixels, and the 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display provides a good viewing experience. However, at 60Hz, the refresh rate is significantly lower than that of the 120Hz iPad Pro. However, it is competent in most ways, albeit gaming and scrolling may not be as smooth as on a high-end phone or top-of-the-line tablet.

iPad Mini Specs
The new processor is made on a 5nm technology instead of the A12 Bionic’s 7nm, and it includes a 5-core GPU and six CPU cores. When compared to the previous-generation iPad mini, Apple claims that the 6-core CPU provides a 40% boost in performance while the 5-core GPU offers an 80% boost in graphics performance. The A15 Bionic SoC in the new iPad mini is the same as in the iPhone 13 series.

On the back, there’s a 12-megapixel camera with quad-LED True Tone lighting. This tablet can record 4K video at up to 60 frames per second with video stabilization. The 12-megapixel front camera has a 122-degree field of vision, which is extremely broad. For FaceTime and other VoIP calls, you also get stereo speakers and twin microphones. The new iPad mini includes dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 6 for connectivity, and it can connect to 5G or LTE networks using either a Nano-SIM or an eSIM.

Final Words
The new iPad Mini stands out from its larger kin in a favorable way, owing to its diminutive size and clean-cut lines. It’s reasonably powerful, has a good screen, and now supports 5G. However, its battery life falls short of that of a larger model, the camera setup is mediocre, and despite its compactness, it isn’t inexpensive. If you want a high-end product or are upgrading from an older iPad, it’s worth considering. The iPad Mini is the best tablet available for anyone looking for a tiny tablet. Aside from the mediocre display, the little tablet accomplishes everything with few compromises.
