Maintenance Of The Embryology Lab: The embryologist is responsible for maintaining favourable laboratory conditions for embryos to flourish healthily. They strictly monitor the prerequisites of a good IVF laboratory like the regulation of temperature, air quality & humidity.

Egg retrieval

During egg retrieval, the embryologist examines the fluid removed from the ovaries under a microscope, identifies, and collects the eggs.

Checking for fertilization

After fusion, an embryologist checks & examines the eggs for fertilization under the microscope.

Incubation & Monitoring

The embryologist locates the fertilized eggs inside an incubator. The incubator is regulated to control temperature and pH, which duplicates ...

A single cell removal on Day 3 or a few cells from the Trophectoderm on Day 5 with minimum risk of damage to the embryo is brought about. Fetuses with an abnormal number of chromosomes fail to implant or get miscarried. At this stage, genetic testing increases the chances of a healthy conception.

Assisted hatching

Assisted hatching takes place in a few cases where the outer shell of the embryo, known as zona pellucida, undergoes thinning with the help of a laser to facilitate implantation.

Embryo Transfer

Embryologists select the best quality embryos and load them into the transfer catheter. It is then carefully handed over to the fertility doctors for safe implantation into the uterus.

Cryopreservation

The embryologist is responsible for the cryopreservation of extra embryos during the IVF procedure. Any leftover good quality embryos undergo freezing for later use.
