Do you want to drink green tea but don’t like the colour and flavour of green tea? Well, why not give hojicha powder a try? You might have heard about organic hojicha powder and have seen it in some organic stores. So, what’s the fuss about this hojicha powder?

Hojicha – The Best Alternative Drink

Hojicha – right now, hojicha powder is the popular drink in the tea world. This finely roasted and milled green tea powder has been the staple drink of the Japanese for some hundred years. Hojihca powder has seen a surge in popularity recently worldwide. Thanks to its visually appealing, healthy nutrients, and distinct flavour and aroma, making it unique green tea in the market.

Hojicha is made from the tea plant. Unlike typical green tea that’s green in colour, hojicha powder doesn’t have a green colour or flavour. Yes, that’s the best part of this tea powder. Hojicha powder is made from steamed hojicha green tea leaves by roasting sencha, bancha, or kukicha leaves.

Since the leaves are roasted at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, it changes the colour of the leaves, tea liquor, flavour, texture, ...
... and aroma and also the chemical composition of the leaves. This is one of the reasons why hojicha has a lower caffeine content compared to other green teas, and it’s a great alternative for people who are looking for caffeine-free hot drinks.

Hojicha leaves turn into reddish-brown colour after resting and turns into a reddish-orange liquor after brewing.

What Does Hojicha Tea Taste Like?

Unlike typical green tea, hojicha organic green tea extract powder has a roasted, aromatic, lightly sweet, nutty, and woody flavour and aroma, making it a unique drink. Leaves might be light and medium roasted to bring out the distinct flavours of the tea leaves. The darker the powder, the more intense roasted flavour the brewed hojicha tea will have. Preparing hojicha tea or latte is much easier than other types of green tea. However, it can turn bitter if over-brewed sometimes. If you are a great fan of airy black teas or darker drinks, hojicha might be the ideal choice.

How to Brew?

Brew one spoon of hojicha powder per cup of water. If you need more intense flavour, you can adjust the powder accordingly. Bring the water to boil, and add a teaspoon of hojicha powder, give a good mix, and your tea is ready. Hojicha powder is great for making tea, latte using milk, and baked foods.

Do you want to try really a unique brand that’s organic? Chaya is one of the best brands that provide organically produced high-quality hojicha powder.
