Tata Steel Ltd, founded in 1907, is a large company with a market capitalization of 15,707,235 krore, active in the metal and iron sector. On June 23, 2017, Tata Steel UK sold 835 Core Tata Motors shareholdings to Tata Group Holding Company Tata Sons at a price of Rs 45,280 per share (excluding brokerage STT). Under a right issued on July 24th, 2019, by Tata Steel Long Products Limited and Tata Sponge Iron Limited (TSLP), the company purchased 2,25,84,967 shares at a par value of Rs 10 per share. TSLP was traded for a total of Rs 12,9220 crore at a price of Rs 500 per share (including a premium of Rs 4.90 per share).

On 25 April 2019, the board of directors of the company approved the merger of its wholly owned subsidiary Bamnipal Steel Limited (BNPL) and Tata Steel BSL Limited into Tata Steel under a combined merger programme with a recommended merger ratio of 1 share of equity for each Rs 10 paid by Tata Steel and 1.5 share of equity for each Rs 2 paid by Tata Steel’s holding public shareholders.
