Types Of Oncologists And Their Specialties In Oncology

Oncology and Cancer Research
Who is an Oncologist?
Oncology is a branch of science that deals with tumours and cancer. The word "onco" means mass, mass or tumour, while "-logi" means study.
Oncology is a specialized branch of medicine dedicated to the field of cancer that includes diagnosis, treatment and research. Doctors who treat cancer patients are known as oncologists. Cancer treatment involves a wide variety of medical procedures and, therefore, requires a specialized team.
To cater to the growing concern of cancer patients, there are some recommended cancer hospitals across the country, which are known for their reliable and affordable treatment. One-Life Cancer Center is one such hospital, working continuously with a qualified team of oncologists in Pune for cancer patients.
What is cancer?
Every cell in the body has a strict regulatory system that controls its growth, maturation, reproduction and final death. Cancer begins when cells in one part of the body grow out of control. There are many types of cancer, but they all start with the abnormal growth of abnormal cells.
How ...
... common is cancer?
Today millions of people are living with cancer or have been diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. One and a half to one-third of all men in the United States will have cancer in their lifetime.
Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals primarily with cancer and tumour-related problems. Along with the Journal of Cancer Research, you will have the opportunity to publish Clinical Images and Case Reports in Oncology that promotes valuable research in clinical and medical sciences. We invite authors/researchers to share their research for global documentation. We urge the authors to go through the goal area and read the instructions given by the authors to publish the oncology case reports journal before initiating any submission.
Role of an oncologist
Medical professionals who study oncology are called oncologists or oncologists. These oncologists have many specific roles. They help diagnose cancer, help in staging cancer, and classify invasive types of cancer.
The role of the oncologist is focused on the treatment of cancer as a whole. Starting with the diagnosis, an oncologist continues his responsibilities:
Explain to the patient about the diagnosis of cancer along with the stage.
Provide information on available treatment options
Providing quality and compassionate care, thus keeping the patient comfortable.
Helping the patient to better manage the symptoms and side effects of cancer.
Keep follow-up even after treatment.
Types of Oncologists
Depending on the nature, stage and location of cancer, different oncologists offer their specialized services for the treatment of cancer. The field of oncology has three main departments: medical, surgical and radiation. There are also several sub-features.
Medical Oncologist
A medical oncologist is a doctor who treats cancer using chemotherapy and other medications such as targeted therapy or immunotherapy. It is the primary health care provider for cancer patients that leads the development of patient care. It works in conjunction with other medical departments for best results. The medical oncologist is also the responsible head who continues to follow up and examine the patient after treatment.
Surgical Oncologist
A surgical oncologist is a surgeon who specializes in the surgical removal of cancerous tumours. They are basically general surgeons who receive additional training in oncology and related surgical procedures. They also specialize in specific types of biopsies to help diagnose cancer.
Radiation Oncologist
Radiation oncologists are doctors who treat cancer with radiation therapy. Radiation therapy uses high-energy X-rays to destroy cancer cells. Sometimes when cancer cells cannot be completely destroyed, oncologists use radiation to reduce tumour growth or to reduce tumour growth without affecting neighbouring tissues. This is called palliative care. The main goal of therapy is to improve the patient's quality of life by controlling the growth of the tumour and its associated symptoms.
We urge authors to go beyond the scope of the objective and read the author's instructions to publish the oncology case reports journal before starting any presentation.
