What Is A Mangrove | Benefits Of Mangrove Trees
What exactly is a mangrove?
Mangroves are coastal trees that develop in saline soils. The tides constantly flood the areas where they grow. That is to say, it dips at high tide and recovers during low tide. This is why these trees' roots emerge from the ground. Because if the roots are submerged in water, they are unable to breathe. As a result, the roots ascend to the surface only to breathe. They are primarily grown in India and Bangladesh's Sunderbans.
What is the purpose of mangroves?
Almost every year, large cyclones, low pressure, and other natural disasters strike. These can be extremely damaging. However, as they wash ashore, some of their strength is lost. Dense mangroves provide a significant barrier to all of these storms, reducing their destructive strength and providing little protection from their catastrophic impact.
In addition, dense mangrove forests absorb CO2, making our atmosphere cleaner.
A huge range of animals lives in this deep mangrove forest. The Sundarbans' biodiversity would be lost without this mangrove. For many people, the vast mangrove forest is their only source ...
... of income. They will be damaged as well.
Why should mangroves be conserved, and why should they not be cut down?
Many individuals today are cutting mangroves down to the ground to make fish sheep. They don't realize, however, that without these valuable natural resources, the environment and humanity will suffer greatly.
Before they hit the ground, all of those frightening cyclones lose some of their destructive strength. Without mangroves, though, these storms will strike with full effect. This could result in a huge loss.
The "Royal Bengal Tiger" in the Sundarbans will be endangered if mangroves do not exist or if their numbers continue to fall day by day. They would be without food and shelter. A large number of animals will die.
The mangroves absorb a lot of carbon dioxide, which cleans the air and decreases the earth's temperature indirectly. It also helps to prevent land erosion and protects the Sundarbans' environment. Without these, the earth's temperature will increase more, causing the melting of glaciers more and the sea will rise, destroying the Sundarbans' environment. These mangroves have protected us from the majority of the Bay of Bengal's severe destructive storms.
If this occurs, all coastal areas will be flooded. Scientists predict that by the year 2100, the sea level will have risen 70 centimeters.
Mangroves are, above all, a highly valuable natural resource. We are sheltered from extremely catastrophic cyclones because of mangroves. It is environmental stewardship. It is concerned about the wildlife that resides there. It is concerned about the people who live there. This should not be harmed.
