Your Own Safety while Oil Painting
If you have been into painting for long, you may have heard the toxicity of oil paints. However, you can use a toxic-free solution and be safe. The paints have oils in them like linseed, walnut, poppyseed or safflower while the pigment comes from iron oxide are synthetic elements like Phthalo. It is also a myth that oil paint can absorb into your skin. This is absolutely not true! You can use protective gloves if you do not want the paints to get in your hands but there is nothing wrong if some paints get on your hands. However, you may not want to work with turpentine and it can absorb in your skin and carry the pigments. You would also like to stay away from mineral spirits as it can give out harmful fumes, which are sensitive to some artists. Some solvents are also inflammable that requires handling with care.
Choosing the Paintbrushes
This is another important feature of a good oil painting on canvas. However, it does not have to be an expensive set because your favourite artist uses it or you like a particular brand. All you want to look for is the one suiting you. You will require experimenting with different paintbrushes before you grab hold of your favourite ones.
