In Russia, Medical education is conducted through 10 years full-time Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The process for admission to MBBS is rigorous. The admission process consists of three rounds of medical entrance exams held separately by medical institutes. Students are allowed to choose their medical speciality from the third round of examinations. The medical students do a mandatory year of training in a 3-6 month internship. There is also a one-year fellowship or training program in one of the reputed hospitals or clinics after medical graduation. This means that there is a gap of 4 to 5 years between completing MBBS and starting working.

Students study there in well-equipped dormitories and colleges for a whole year. The number of lectures and laboratories in their colleges are sufficient to maintain complete research in Medicine.

The current standard of living of a student of MBBS course is very low. But once you move out of the university hostel into the city, you can expect that you can earn more than double the amount that your studies in Russia will cost.
