Dapagliflozin is prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes when even high doses of insulin fail to be effective, especially when your weight is more than it should be. Dapagliflozin Dosage

10 mg orally per day is also recommended to decrease the risk of hospitalization. The same dose strength is advised to adults to curb the risk of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

Dapagliflozin 10 mg/day may be prescribed to adults suffering from chronic kidney disease. It is not recommended to patients with polycystic kidney disease or type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Cautions

You should tell your doctor if you are consuming high blood pressure medicines or medicines that cause excessive urination. Also, if you’re taking medicines causing low blood sugar, your doctor will advise the Dapagliflozin dose accordingly and hence you must tell your doctor about the medicines you’re taking or you have taken in the past.

Side Effects of Dapagliflozin

There are certain side effects of Dapagliflozin and if you experience any of the below side-effects, you must contact your doctor.

- Weakness, dizziness, or dehydration.
- Swelling in your feet and ankles, or extreme tiredness.
- Little or no urination.
- Pain or burning during urination.
- Nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, or stomach pain.
- Symptoms of bladder infection such as increased urination, fever, blood in urine, or back pain.
- Genital yeast infection
- Sore-throat or runny nose.
