Most major credit and debit card providers, including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, are supported by Apple Pay. Unsurprisingly, Apple's Apple Card is also supported. Apple Pay is compatible with any contactless payment system. They will accept Apple Pay if you notice the contactless payments icon or the Apple Pay emblem near the readers at the checkout. Hundreds of thousands of retailers and restaurants around the world support it. In the United States, over 75% of stores and restaurants accept Apple Pay, whereas, in the United Kingdom, over 85% do. Support is available in 99 percent of Australia's retailers and restaurants. Apple Pay is supported by a wide range of apps, including travel, commerce, entertainment, and service apps. To set up Apple Pay on your iPhone or iPad, you'll need to utilize the Apple Wallet app. The Apple Wallet will then store your credit and debit cards, retrieving the information when you use Apple Pay to make purchases.

How does Apple Pay Works?

Apple Pay can wirelessly interface with point-of-sale systems to initiate a contactless payment, sometimes known as "tap to pay" transactions, ...
... by using the iPhone's near field communications (NFC) chip. Customers and merchants alike frequently appreciate tap-to-pay transactions. Tap to pay transactions, according to some vendors, are up to twice as fast as traditional methods. A buyer must hold their smartphone near a point-of-sale terminal after choosing which card to use. The terminal will get the appropriate information from the device, such as the device ID and a tokenized card number. The buyer must confirm the sale using Face ID or Touch ID; the buyer's card information is never shared with the retailer because the original card number is never saved on the device. Apple Pay employs an EMV-mode payment system, which is identical to that used by credit and debit cards that include integrated circuit chips. EMV is a technology standard that protects buyers from security fraud by blocking card cloning using previous methods that made it easy to clone magnetic-stripe cards.

Apple Pay adds an extra layer of security by hiding the user's personal information from the shop. Instead of providing the customer's credit or debit card number, a tokenized Device Primary Account Number is used. Each transaction is assigned a unique dynamic security code using the DPAN. Apple does not keep track of third-party card usage. A second-factor authentication technique, like as Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode, is required for each purchase. To make a purchase on an Apple Watch, the watch must be unlocked and worn on the wrist, and the transaction must be verified by double-clicking the side button. Apple Pay, as bizarre as it may appear, does provide certain health benefits to its customers. Although it was not previously a topic of discussion, the demand for contactless payment systems is increasing as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Selfbook.com is a hotel management software system that empowers you with tools to drive direct bookings and increase revenue. It is the only direct payment platform that supports Apple Pay (selfbook.com/Apple-Pay) and other digital wallets.
