Maintaining your car involves several things in addition to daily cleaning of the outer surface and weekly clean-up of the interior. Since you have already spent a significant amount while buying your favorite car, spend a little more to buy a good car insurance policy to protect your car well in time of need. In India, a car insurance policy is compulsory. So, take care to renew your existing policy on time, every time. Besides making sure that your car stays protected at all times, you may follow certain maintenance tips to keep your car running longer, smoother, and always in good condition:

• Regular fluid check
Checking fluid is important and should be done at least once a week. It would not take much of your time to do it. Once your car’s engine has cooled down, you just have to open the car bonnet, detach the oil dipstick, clean it before dipping it the full length in the oil talk, and pull it out again to check the oil level. This process will indicate when you should change the engine oil. Also, check the power steering fluid levels along with belts and hoses for any sign of wear and tear. For checking ...
... the transmission fluid, it is the same process but you have to warm up the car.
• Tyre check
The car tyres require regular checking as they are prone to maximum wear and tear. Check the tyre pressure with the help of a gauge and ensure that it is proper for all the tyres. Repeat the process at least twice a month.
• Checking the air filters
A defective air filter will lead to a lot of wear and tear and increase depreciation. The filters should be changed once a year or after you complete 15,000 kilometers. Ignoring this can lead to problems with the air-conditioning system of the car and your co-passengers and you will end up inhaling dirty air. For the replacement of air filters, you should take the car to a service center instead of attempting it on your own.
• Monitor the car batteries
Check the car batteries for the low-battery sign, and get them charged immediately, or you may find yourself stranded in the middle of area road that you are not that familiar with, probably at odd hours, if your battery gets drained. Your car insurance can help in this situation, especially if you have roadside assistance cover. The insurer may send a car mechanic to charge the batteries on spot and arrange for towing your car to a garage if needed. In case of mineral build-up or leakage around the batteries, clean them regularly with a battery cleaning brush.

• Check the brakes and spark plugs
Brakes are important for safety while driving, so proper care is needed to increase their longevity. Replace them every two years if needed and keep a check on the brake fluids. Change the fluid when it becomes dark in color. Spark plugs should be changed after every 45,000 kilometers as they may wear out and affect the engine functions.

Following the above guidelines would ensure that your car functions well. Also, remember to get your online car insurance or car insurance through an offline method at your convenience and renew it on time.
