Adequan For Dogs
Adequan Canine is a breakthrough medication treatment for dogs suffering from Canine Osteoarthritis. Canine Osteoarthritis is a joint condition characterized by symptoms such as stiffness, poor mobility, inflammation and pain in the joint area. The main cause of this condition is attributed to instability in the joint as a result of flaccid ligaments. Other causes can be related to muscle strains, injuries to the joint area, and poor bone or cartilage development. The age of the dog and an obese/overweight condition can contribute to a poor repair process of the ligaments.
Canine Osteoarthritis is not visible in the initial stages. Painful inflammations will manifest only after the erosion of either the synovial membrane or that of the bone under the joint cartilage has begun. The visible signs include: limping, dullness, inactivity, difficulty in getting up or lying down and also the inability to climb stairs or jump.
Adequan Canine works to stimulate the repair process of the cartilage, to bind the damaged cartilage and to destroy the enzymes responsible for eroding the joints. With this treatment the joints remain ...
... well lubricated, the joint motion is made smoother and all pain and inflammation are relieved restoring the dog's comfort.
Adequan for dogs is different from other canine osteoarthritis treatments in that it is a DMOAD (Disease Modifying Osteoarthritis Drug). It is also the only FDA-approved DMOAD arthritis treatment drug on the market. Being a prescription drug, it is administered by licensed veterinarians only. As a POLYSULFATED GLYOSAMINOGLYCAN (PSGAG) drug, Adequan canine is also the only known product in this classification that treats the disease while relieving pain.
The side effects of Adequan for dogs are classified as mild, short-lived and self-limiting in nature. They may include pain at the injection area, diarrhoea, vomiting, depression and abnormal bleeding.
Adequan Canine is administered to the dog in a series of eight injections. The dog will display significant improvements by the second or third injection. Maximum results of stopping cartilage erosion and stimulation of joint repair and the lubrication process are achieved after the all eight injections. As such the dog owners are encouraged to ensure the entire eight doses are administered.
There are several medical conditions that a dog may have which may prevent one from administering Adequan for dogs. This is attributed to the fact that Adequan Canine is a (PSGASG) drug and as such any dogs that are hypersensitive or have any bleeding disorder are not to be treated with this drug. Also, a veterinarian should evaluate the risks associated with the use of this drug for dogs with renal or hepatic conditions.
Adequan Canine is available in 100mg 5ml vials at a cost of around $54-$56 per vial, and can be found at www.petmedsnmore.com.
