Are you a professional landlord? If so, what technology are you using to manage your property portfolio? It is hard to believe but there really are some landlords out there who are still getting by with hybrid manual, spreadsheet and word processing systems. Quite frankly that approach is not only outdated it is madness.

Be honest with yourself. Have you graduated from using time consuming and tedious manual set ups to word processing and spreadsheet packages? If you have, then that is a step in the right direction but you are now ready for the next step which is to invest in an integrated property landlord software package that suits the type of property rental business that you operate. If you are still asking yourself why you should do this then just think of the time and money it will save you.

When did you last take time out to think carefully about the type of business you are running? You will need to conduct such an audit now so that you can decide what you need and want from a property software package? This is an important first step because no two property portfolios are the same.

One tip ...
... is to make a list of essential features you will need from a software package and then to make a wish list. Look for a product that has been positively reviewed by experienced and independent people and property organisations. If you can, you should choose a product that has been designed by or had input from a respected and professional landlord. They know what key features and extras are beneficial in a landlord software package.

Cash and time are your two most precious assets. Property is expensive to both buy and to maintain and in reality your cash flow is dependent on the economic strength and continuing business success of your tenants. The aim of property management is to put the right tenants in the right properties and then to keep the rental income coming in whilst at the same time controlling and managing the money going out.

It makes good commercial sense to look for a product that will help you to manage and control your portfolio equity and yield. Good landlord software is flexible and versatile and it can help you to analyse the performance of your entire property portfolio. What are you waiting for?
