Please note that once you configure the passphrase feature and you ever need to disable it, you will need to reset Chrome Sync. This action will erase your Chrome data stored on your Google account. Methods to set up Sync Passphrase on Windows and MacTo set up Sync Passphrase on your computer, you have to open the Chrome browser. After opening the browser, look at the top right corner and find a three-dot icon. Once you locate it, you have to click on it. Now you will have different options in a pop-up window. You have to choose and click on Settings. Under Settings, you have to find an option called Sync and Google Services. You may find this option within the You and Google section. Once you find it, you have hit on it. To proceed toward the next step, you will need to enable sync. After you are ready, look for an option called Encryption Options and hit on the down arrow next to it. As you click on the down arrow, two options will appear. You have to choose the option that starts with Encrypt synced data with your own sync passphrase. After selecting the right option, two different boxes will show below. You have to type a passphrase in the first box, confirm it through the second box, and then hit the Save button. So, type what you want to use as a passphrase in both the boxes and hit the Save button. And you are all set. After setting up the passphrase, when you or anyone sign in using a new Chrome browser and turn on sync, the passphrase will be asked.
