Google Chrome syncs data, including bookmarks, history, open tabs, passwords, and more across multiple devices. While this feature allows you to see Chrome search-related data on devices signed in with the same Google account, it also creates many problems. Luckily, the synced data can be encrypted using a passcode, and we will show you how you can do that in this article.   history open tabsMore about Google Chrome Sync Do you know how many things Chrome stores in your Google account if you have enabled the sync feature? For your knowledge, we want to tell you that Chrome stores information, including bookmarks, payment info, passwords, search history, open tabs, names, addresses, phone numbers, settings, and preferences. Google account stores all this data, meaning Google knows everything about you. Therefore, it becomes vital to secure your Google data. The method we will use here to encrypt your Google data is through a Sync Passphrase that restricts Google from accessing the data. You can use Sync Passphrase to ...
... protect your information on a wide range of devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows 10, and Mac computer. Please note that once you configure the passphrase feature and you ever need to disable it, you will need to reset Chrome Sync. This action will erase your Chrome data stored on your Google account. Methods to set up Sync Passphrase on Windows and MacTo set up Sync Passphrase on your computer, you have to open the Chrome browser. After opening the browser, look at the top right corner and find a three-dot icon. Once you locate it, you have to click on it. Now you will have different options in a pop-up window. You have to choose and click on Settings. Under Settings, you have to find an option called Sync and Google Services. You may find this option within the You and Google section. Once you find it, you have hit on it. To proceed toward the next step, you will need to enable sync. After you are ready, look for an option called Encryption Options and hit on the down arrow next to it. As you click on the down arrow, two options will appear. You have to choose the option that starts with Encrypt synced data with your own sync passphrase. After selecting the right option, two different boxes will show below. You have to type a passphrase in the first box, confirm it through the second box, and then hit the Save button.  So, type what you want to use as a passphrase in both the boxes and hit the Save button. And you are all set. After setting up the passphrase, when you or anyone sign in using a new Chrome browser and turn on sync, the passphrase will be asked. Methods to set up Sync Passphrase on Android, iPhone, and iPadOpen Chrome on your mobile phone and then hit the three-dot menu from the upper right corner.Choose Settings.Under Settings, you have to find and click on Sync and Google Services located at the top. Look for the Manage Sync option and ensure that you have turned on Sync before doing it. Under the Manage Sync option, hit on the option called Encryption.Select an option called Encrypt synced data with your own sync passphrase.Set a passphrase and type it in the first and second box, and hit the Save button. If you have turned on the feature on one device, there is no need to enable it on all devices you use. After enabling it on one device, it will start working on all other devices. PublishedSeptember 3, 2021Source:https://nortonsetup.aurokulink.com/google-chrome-sync-secure-it-with-a-custom-sync-passphrase/
