A good parent does not mean when the child gets a better salary in a big company or when their child holds higher values. You are a successful parent when you imbibe good attributes in your child. One of the attributes is teaching them about money management. They cannot spend too much and how much ever they want. They must understand the worth of every penny and how to save them.
Provide their allowance or pocket money at the primary level when your child gets older so that they can use them for their expenses throughout the year. Give them a minimum amount as they will make mistakes where they might spend a lumpsum on something specific at the beginning of the month and be compelled to go thrifty the remainder of the month. Your child might require planning help soon.
If your child masters the use of pocket money, you can move to the next level, letting them know about Credit and Debit Card. These cards are valuable tools and bring a lot of good when used smartly but can cause trouble in your financial ...
... life if misused. Starting with kids early and teaching them about Debit and Credit Cards is best before getting one of their own and running into trouble.
It is also good because once your kid completes their education, they may get away from you a college where they often need money. It is also easy for you as a parent to transfer money to their account and keep a watch on where and how your kids spend money to ensure they do not get into poor spending habits. It is advisable to be cautious and teach your children by getting them an online Debit Card and then a Credit Card.
Debit Cards
Debit Cards are the simplest to manage when it comes to plastic money as the funds get debited from your Bank Account immediately. You can apply for Debit Card easily by opening a Savings Account that requires a minimum balance of Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000. Now monthly, you can transfer the amount needed in your child’s account, which they spend wisely.
Your child can only spend the money that you deposit and plan their expenses accordingly. It is also an excellent way to learn about interest and savings.  Even if they use it as an ATM Card to withdraw money, the withdrawal limit gets restricted.
Credit Cards
Using these are tricky. Though financial management is at the top here, you can make it fun for children if you provide them with an exciting strategy. Next, educate them about credit limits, that the child borrows money from someone, and that they must pay it back as a task that increases if they spend more than the credit limits they can use. They will stay under the radar and make sure they get out of their chores.
You can apply for such Debit and Credit Cards either offline, net banking, or banking apps. Debit Cards, as mentioned, sometimes come with the welcome kit of opening the Bank Account.
