The irritating condition of dry eyes and discomfort caused by them can be painful. The severity of dry eyes and duration seem to be variable. Most of the causes of the eyes getting dry indicate the issues pertaining to ageing. For instance, women who have attained menopause, experienced allergies and people who have witnessed the exposure to dry climate for prolonged duration. But, if the individual has a history of dry eyes for a longer period, then, he/she is not considered to be the
suitable candidate for Lasik laser eye surgery in Delhi. Basically, most of the Lasik surgeons make it a point to identify signs of dry eyes syndrome in order to assess quality and quantity of patient’s tears.

In fact, there are many initial tests which have been conducted by the surgeons to understand the stable condition of eyes before performing the Lasik surgery. The whole idea is to treat dry eyes’ condition by recommending artificial tears or eye drops to the patient, so that, the lubrication within the eyes is attained.

... laser eye surgery in Delhi and tests used for vision assessment.

Tests for identifying dry eyes before Lasik surgery:

1. Tear breakup time
Commonly known as TBUT, the tear breakup time is the process which examines the fist dry spot on cornea before actually the complete blinking has been witnessed. The stability of tear film is evaluated through this test in the procedure of dry-eye assessment. The objective of this process is to understand the volume of tear, tear film instability, increased evaporation rate and decreased tear production and other factors leading to dry eyes are checked as a part of this initial test.

2. Imaging
The objective of imaging is to evaluate eye’s tear film by the optimal usage of keratometers and other instruments. Most of all, this test to understand dry eyes’ structure is executed without touching eye’s surface. This direct evaluation of dry eyes is aimed at improving diagnosis of the treatment before proceeding with the Lasik surgery.

3. Schirmer’s test
The amount of tear production is examined by the doctors to understand the level of moistness in the eyes of patient. As a part of this process, the thin strip of paper is placed under the lower lid of
the eye. The next step is to remove the filter paper and assess the moistness of eyes. The severity of dry eyes with complaints like: sensation of having something in the eyes, pain in the eyes, chronic
eye irritation and sensitivity to the light are some of the issues.

4. MMP-9 testing
This clinical examination of dry eyes includes the collection of the sample of tears from within the bottom lid of the eyes. In a matter of few minutes, the patient can know whether his eyes can resist inflammatory dry condition caused after the Lasik laser eye surgery in Delhi or not.

Should dry eyes test be conducted before Lasik surgery?

Treating dry eyes before proceeding with Lasik eye surgery is a precaution taken by most of the surgeons to make the treatment successful. You may be recommended to add flaxseed oil or fish oil in your diet for vision correction so that tear film of eyes is improved. Furthermore, lubricating eye drops are prescribed by the doctor before the Lasik laser eye surgery in Delhi to reduce inflammation of eye. After the sufficient amount of moisture of eyes is created, irritation can be lessened. Alternatively, installing humidifiers can be also the solution for treating dry eyes. After the
treatment of chronic dry eye symptoms, Lasik surgery can be easily carried out.

Finally, it can be concluded that that if you have been suffering from a prolonged case of dry eyes, then, get the same tested before Lasik laser surgery for vision correction is scheduled.
