Have you heard of what could be India's first carbon-neutral coffee. It is a 25 years old farm in southern state of India. The owner cultivates shade grown coffee speciality of district of Kerala in India. Organic coffee has a lot of buyers not only in India but also globally. As carbon footprint consultant we were excited to hear about possibility or the concept of a carbon neutral coffee. They grow this coffee in the shade as the crop requires it for optimum yield and growth. Especially in summer, the crop requires more than 10 feet of shade, and that is what the owner.

As the world is going through a phase of global warming and environmental issues, this entrepreneur has thought about a carbon neutral programme. Being a carbon footprint consultant we were excited to see such an initiative. A carbon footprint report must be developed for this project. The infrastructural development of a place like road bridge airport has accelerated Climate change and has affected all of us. What we see today is not the climate of Waynad in Kerala. It used to be cooler and greener and less populated in the past.

We created ...
... a methodology and came up with this methodology for estimating emissions. We tried to find out how much greenhouse gases are being emitted within the panchayat boundaries where coffee is being grown. By the soil, the forest, and even different homestead trees to come up were included in the GHG inventory. This is likely a benchmark study or carbon footprint report, because it is probably the first time that a GHG inventory has been created for a panchayat and that too for coffee plantation. People carry their own bags when they go to grocery-shopping nowadays in this panchayat in order to reduce plastic pollution, what to say, environmentally aware bunch of people are living here.

Meenangadi Panchayat, which resides in a unique ecosystem in the Western Ghats towards northern Kerala, initiated an ambitious project to become carbon neutral by 2020. We are delighted to have known and visited this place as carbon footprint consultant. The project was initiated on June 5, 2016, as part of World Environment Day, and in 2016, with a committed, innovative and strategic method, the panchayat and all its inhabitants have been able to achieve considerable progress towards one of the most enduring missions in the country.

We are one of the leading carbon footprint consultant in the Middleast and Indian region. Please reach out to us in case you are looking to develop a carbon footprint report.
